Doctor Who: The Ghosts of N-Space Review

Here we have the second of the Barry Letts penned BBC Audio Dramas staring Jon Pertwee (playing The Doctor for the last time, sadly…), Elisabeth Sladen and Nicholas Courtney. Once again Richard Pearce’s Jeremy Fitzoliver appears to ruin most scenes he’s in but now he’s joined by a whole host of over-the-top cheesy accents! Headphone users beware… Let’s take a look…

Doctor Who: The Paradise of Death Review

Time to look at two full cast audio dramas starring Jon Pertwee, Elizabeth Sladen and Nicholas Courtney written by Barry Letts! Exciting right?! … Well, it should be, but sadly the stories also suffer from an awful comic book caricature companion known as Jeremy Fitzoliver. *shudder*. That being said out of the two stories Paradise of Death is the better one, so let’s take a look!

Star Wars: The High Republic – Tempest Breaker Review

“Tempest Breaker” is the latest addition to the High Republic era of Star Wars and weirdly despite being a full cast audio drama it’s actually a direct continuation of the Marvel High Republic comic series, and I mean direct continuation! After a recap we pick up where the previously released issue ended and we follow the characters from the comics (plus a couple of over-arching High Republic characters) through some pretty important scenes in the overall plot. I mean I loved it, it’s no secret I love sci-fi audio dramas and whoever cast the actors here nailed every single one, but I imagine if you’re not a fan of the genre you might be a little peeved, especially if you’re a big fan of the comics. Anyway, let’s take a look!

Star Wars – The High Republic: The Battle of Jedha Review

The Battle of Jedha is a full length audio drama from Audible, and while normally that means still plenty of prose bookends this time it’s more akin to the Big Finish style audio dramas I’m accustomed to and I really enjoyed it! Admittedly I’m still a little miffed at this prequel side step phase but at least this was not only exciting but put focus on Jedha after it was talked up so much during Rogue One as a former holy place for Force Users. So let’s take a look!

The Sandman (Audio Drama Series) – Chapters 1-8 “Preludes and Nocturnes” Review

I wasn’t sure of the idea of an audio adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s “The Sandman”, the original comics/graphic novels were so vividly brought to life by the artwork that it almost seemed… pointless? But then I saw the voice cast and I thought I’d give it a go! Sure enough there are some great performances here, but there are also some missteps, especially if you’re used to the Big Finish style of Audio Drama like I am. It’s a long one, so I’ve decided to split it up into its three original collected volume titles to take a look… so let’s do just that!

Alien III (Audio Drama) Review

Alien III

It’s funny that I ended up getting a couple more free Audible downloads and so finally decided to give this a go, an audio drama performance of a “lost” script for an original Alien III film by William Gibson, at the same time I’m covering the Doctor Who lost stories range. I’m one of those people who doesn’t particularly like Alien3, as mentioned in my review of the film from a few years ago, so when I heard of this project I was interested to hear “what could’ve been”. Turns out Alien III is as much of a mish-mash mess as Alien3, just in a different way…
