Star Wars: The High Republc – The Edge of Balance Vol. 1 Review

So last year we got a bunch of Star Wars Anime shorts, now I’m reviewing not just a Star Wars manga but one set during the High Republic era, which I’ve been loving the last year or so. It’s always nice when something ticks so many boxes at once! That being said due to being printed in the traditional western way and having a very simple plot this felt less like manga than I was expecting… Is it still worth reading though? Let’s find out!

Star Wars: The High Republic – The Fallen Star Review

The third and final book of “Phase 1” of the High Republic series arrived and certainly put their best “Empire Strikes Back” foot forward in giving the villains a big win and leaving things a little grim for our heroes. I can say that without spoilers due to the title of the book and all the cover art / posters that have been going around showing Starlight Beacon burning and crashing kind of giving that impression before reading it… Let’s take a look at “Star Wars does a disaster movie” shall we?

Star Wars: The High Republic – There is No Fear / Heart of the Drengir Review

After enjoying the two High Republic books so much and with a subscription to Marvel Unlimited I’ve been reading each issue as they’ve appeared on the digital service. The High Republic era continues (or continued at this point given how late this review is, but whatever…) as the next major novel arrives in “The Rising Storm”. It shifts focus away from the Beacon and some of the characters featured in “Light of the Jedi” and instead shows us a whole new crisis and focuses on some of the side characters from the previous novel alongside entirely new ones, overall expanding and fleshing out the cast as the story moves forward. Plus plenty more Nihil, which is always fun! So let’s take a closer look…

Star Wars: The High Republic – Light of the Jedi Review

I’ve been looking forward to this book for a long time now, the idea of the “High Republic Era” was fascinating to me. No Sith or Empire thanks to this being set 200 years before Phantom Menace, and therefore 800 years into the “it’s been 1,000 years since a Jedi has seen a Sith” line in the aforementioned film. Due to the complete lack of the Dark Side of the Force clouding any judgment the Jedi here are on a whole other level, but the villains of the piece shine as well, being quite unlike anything seen the long-running series before. Want to know more? Read on!
