The Bad Batch’s third and final season felt rushed to start with, getting through a few storylines I thought the whole season would be about, then settled into a nice groove leading to a great 50-minute finale. So once again I really enjoyed the show, as I tend to do with these Star Wars CG cartoons despite not being a fan of the animation style normally. Whether that’s due to how good the shows are or how much I like the Star Wars universe I can’t tell you, but either way: let’s take a look!

Echo Review
Echo is an odd series when you think about it. It’s simultaneously a spin-off from the Hawkeye series, a sequel/spin-off from the now finally definitely MCU canon Netflix shows like Daredevil, the first Disney + era “mature” MCU show and the first “Spotlight” series, or in other words single season mini-series. It’s all of this and a show with a deaf Indigenous lady with a metal leg as its lead protagonist… who by the end of the show has some sort of supernatural power to go along with it? Bizarre, but what did I think overall? I really enjoyed it! … Up until the finale…
Continue readingWhat If…? Season 2 Review
I really enjoyed the first season of What If…? but I saw so few people talking about it that I didn’t think a second season was too likely, but here we are! (and with a third confirmed as well for that matter) Season 2 had plenty of fun stories with the same level of surprising actors actually coming back to continue their roles, plus a very loose adaptation of the 1602 comics and an episode introducing an entirely new character to the MCU canon (even if it is in another universe…) Let’s take a look.
Continue readingLoki – Season 2 Review
A month and a bit late on this review, but hey-ho, I’ve been later with bigger shows! Loki Season 2 is a hard one to get my head around because as it was airing there wasn’t a week where I felt excited to watch the next episode, and in fact several weeks I watched the episode a few days after it “aired” whereas the other MCU / Star Wars Disney + shows I watched the night of the day they’re uploaded, with the only other exception being the recent MCU show Secret Invasion, so… that’s not a good sign for MCU TV projects… Anyway, on the other hand it had some really fun performances and a great end sequence, so it’s not really that bad, I just never felt invested in it… Let’s see if I can actually pull these random thoughts into a coherent review, shall we?
Continue readingAhsoka – Season 1 Review
We finally get our sequel series to Star Wars Rebels and it’s weirdly in live action! Never would’ve seen that coming when Season 4 ended, that’s for sure. While I’m not sure how this series came across to those who weren’t familiar with the animated show I loved it, especially the back half where the story moved from “catching people up on our main characters” to “moving the plot forward”. The returning animated characters were really well cast as well, so it made for a smooth transition, which was handy (and again, really weird) So with all that being said, let’s take a look!
Continue readingSecret Invasion Review
The MCU pushes forward with another TV show but sadly it’s among the first MCU properties I just didn’t click with. Sometimes great actors and acting can overcome a dull certain issues but this was not one of those times, I can’t quite put my finger of exactly why but the show never drew me in to the point where a few weeks I forgot it was on and watched it Thursday instead of the Wednesday it uploaded. To be so unengaged when such good actors were on my screen is a real sign of poor script and direction, I guess. Oh well, let’s take a closer look anyway…
Continue readingStar Wars: Visions – Season 2 Review
I really enjoyed the original Visions back in 2021, made entirely of anime shorts, so hearing of a second season was exciting enough but hearing it included studios from all over the globe made it really interesting as well, so I’m happy to report that Season 2 lived up to both those expectations and delivered another fun selection of unrestrained-by-canon Star Wars storytelling. Let’s take a deeper look!
Continue readingThe Mandalorian – Season 3 Review
It’s time to look at a new series of the ever-popular Star Wars show The Mandalorian, and once again it was a really fun trip with great action and plenty of lore nods, though I will say there were some moments that felt like the show was going on fast-forward, like it had been cancelled so they had to wrap up as many plot-threads as they could in one season, even though it’s far from cancelled! Still good fun though, so let’s take a look.
Continue readingStar Wars: The Bad Batch – Season 2 Review
The second season of the Bad Batch follows a very similar formula to the other CG Star Wars cartoons in that there are some amazing standout episodes that fans of any age should go out of their way to watch mixed in with some classic cartoon side-steps aimed younger (though never to the point of at least still being fun for all ages, so long as you don’t take yourself too seriously) The story of how the Clones become phased out and why is really well told here as the series continues to explore that rarely seen “just after Episode III” time period. So let’s take a look already!
Continue readingThe Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special Review
The Second “holiday themed” TV special for the MCU and this time it’s a good old fashioned Christmas Special with the Guardians of the Galaxy. Admittedly while “Werewolf by Night” was a good standalone special this feels like a very light bit of humour more in the line of an extra or bonus feature. Still, tis the season to be mildly amused! Let’s take a look… Not that it’ll take long!
