Star Wars: Andor – Season 1 Review

As a big fan of Rogue One I was really excited to see the further adventures of Cassian Andor and was mildly annoyed as large (or at least vocal) parts of the Star Wars fandom who bemoaned the idea of the series. Well, now it’s over I can sit back smugly in my chair as it was fantastic! A more mature view of the Star Wars world, and mature as in well paced and not afraid to tackle more adult themes of politics and the grey area between right and wrong rather than excessive violence or swearing that some (mostly younger) people think adult content is. With several three-episode story arcs to look at, lets not waste any more time!

Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi Review

This bonus six-episode animated series sort of came out of nowhere. It was revealed, quietly stepping into the background while everyone else talked about the bigger new TV series and then just… came out. If I’m being honest this is a series of two extremes as its split in two halves, one focusing on Ahsoka and one of Dooku. The Ahsoka half seems damn-near pointless and doesn’t really add anything, where as Dooku was a fantastic look at how the Jedi fell to the Dark Side and why. Want to know more? Read on!

Werewolf By Night Review

While I didn’t have time to do a horror-themed marathon this year at least the MCU has come along and given me a horror-themed “Special Presentation” to put up on the day itself. I’ve said this a lot lately when it comes to obscure Marvel comic characters weirdly getting live action appearances but the announcement that “Werewolf by Night” was getting a special episode legitimately made me laugh. What a crazy thing the MCU is now… Even weirder is the fact that the special episode was really good! One of the better MCU things in years, really. Let’s take a look!

She-Hulk: Attorney at Law Review

So the much talked about She-Hulk MCU debut finally arrives and it’s a comedy show, complete with sitcom tropes and fourth wall breaks (very in character, comic-wise for the record!) while sprinkling in a few important cameos to make sure everyone knows that is still very much an entry in the overall saga. Well… apart from that ending, yesh. Didn’t like that at all… Erm, anyway, I’ll get to that in spoiler bit at the end of the review, either way let’s take a look at the series proper!

Ms. Marvel Review

This was a legitimately hard review to write as I didn’t particularly like my time watching the show but it wasn’t because it was bad per say, just that it felt very much aimed at an audience that wasn’t me. I have zero interest in the life of an American high school girl, regardless of race, and as such large parts of the show just felt like I was watching something I had to rather than because I wanted to, all thanks to a want to say that I’ve “watched all of the MCU”. It’s not a bad show, it may even be a great show if your young enough (or have been waiting for Muslims or Pakistan to get some much deserved positive screen time) but for me… well, let’s take a look before I give away the score now and be done with it!

Obi-Wan Kenobi Review

Well, it’s been teased for literally years but it finally arrived: Ewan McGregor reprising his role as Obi-Wan Kenobi in a story set in between the Prequel and Original trilogies. It didn’t stop there though! Darth Vader / Anakin (played by Hayden Christensen no less), live action Inquisitors and even child versions of Luke and Leia.  Throw in some amazing scenes I can’t talk about until the Spoiler section and I was one pleased Star Wars fan!

Moon Knight Review

Moon Knight is the latest MCU Disney Plus TV effort, and at only six parts with a top Hollywood name at its core in Oscar Isaac it really felt like an MCU film stretched to double the length (though with more talking / character development than you normally get in the movies, obviously!) It was actually really good, though it was definitely carried on the shoulders of its lead rather than the writing or anything being the stand-out. Let’s take a deeper look, anyway…

Star Wars: The Book of Boba Fett Review

The latest live action TV offering for Star Wars is here, and it’s not The Mandalorian… erm, until it is for the last three episodes, but hey-ho. They were good episodes! So, yeah, The Book of Boba Fett tells us just what the classic bounty hunter got up to post Sarlacc pit and it was actually a really interesting look at the character as he matures and finds a new life after his old one nearly led to his death. Let’s take a look!

Hawkeye – Season 1 Review

Twas the morning before Christmas and… I thought I’d upload the review of the just-finished Hawkeye series before the holidays, given its so heavily tied to it. A series based solely on Hawkeye may not have been the most obvious idea to pick but as per usual in the MCU they knew what they were doing as it was a real fun series to follow, with newly minted hero Kate Bishop being well handled and a return I have been quietly hoping for finally becoming reality. Let’s take a look!

What If…? – Season 1 Review

What If…? was always a great concept for a comic series and unsurprisingly it makes for a great TV series too, especially given so many Hollywood stars actually returned to voice their MCU roles. Obviously with any anthology series some were better than others but in general I had a fun time watching every week. Let’s take a closer look…
