Red Dwarf – Series III Review

Red Dwarf’s third series is the first of many complete shifts in setting, cast and tone that the show undergoes, this time adding Kryten as a regular cast member and setting several stories off Red Dwarf entirely. While I don’t think there is a complete dud in the series it is split in half between three all-time classic episodes and three other episodes, funnily enough in that order. Red Dwarf – Series II Review

Back with more Red Dwarf and the second series already starts to move into more sci-fi territories, introducing small craft, moon surfaces and an android (or “mechanoid”) though only for a single episode (for now!) At the end of the day though the series is still focused on Lister and Rimmer as they try and meek out some sort of existence on the massive but empty Red Dwarf…

Red Dwarf – Series I Review

I went back and forth on whether I could review Red Dwarf for the site. On the one hand I’m doing a first ever watch through from Series I to the Dave revival series so it was the optimal time but on the other hand it’s a comedy series and therefore it’s very subjective. Sure the sci-fi setting makes it fit more naturally on this blog than a sitcom in a flat or something, but it’s going to be something new to me and especially with the first six series it will be hard to separate nostalgia and look at them objectively. Oh well! Let’s give it a go, shall we?
