So for many years I’ve been seeing people say or being directly told that the original comic version of The Walking Dead is far better than the TV series, and frankly in recent years I have been wondering “what was this story like with Rick still in it?” so I’ve taken the plunge and brought the first compendium, though I’ll be reviewing them in batches of two volumes rather than all eight that made up the mammoth book at once… that would take some time to review! So let’s look at the original comic version of events, both the opening story and the Hershel farm part as well (they really stretched that one in the TV series didn’t they?)

Street Fighter V – Volumes 1 and 2 Review

I really wanted to finish off my look at the UDON Street Fighter comics before the end of the year and I’ve now done it, just. Sadly these last two volumes are all over the place: full to the brim with one-off stories that either tie up a bit of continuity, hint at but not actually adapt the Street Fighter V game storyline or just exist to try and make you laugh. It’s basically a short story collection, which would be fine if it had a subtitle other that “Street Fighter V” on it, as that implies something a bit more substantial. Oh well, let’s take a last look at some Street Fighter UDON comics! (Well, for now. They haven’t lost the license or anything, these are just the one I got in that Humble Bundle ages ago…)

Street Fighter vs. Darkstalkers Review

So after a few issues of build up we get the “big crossover”, which given the frequency the two franchises have crossed over already in games makes this feel less special, but there you go. How does the comic fair? Well it falls into the most basic crossover cliché of “people from different worlds suddenly arrive in a weird place and learn to work together to face the big threat behind it”. Does it at least pull it off well and mix some lore from the games in for good measure?! Let’s find out!

Street Fighter Legends: Cammy & Origins: Akuma Review

So just before we enter Darkstalkers territory we have two more Street Fighter releases that are just sort of… floating about, so it made sense to just cover them now, especially Legends: Cammy, which is set around the same time as the books I just did (a.k.a did a few months ago now, but you know what I mean!). Origins: Akuma is exactly what you imagine it would be, for the record, whether that’s good or bad will depend on you expectations!

Street Fighter Unlimited – Volumes 1 and 2 Review

Street Fighter Unlimited is actually a loose adaptation of Street Fighter III, or I guess the UDON comic universe’s equivalent. The main antagonist is Gill and his Secret Society and a fair bit of focus is given to some of the SFII cast as well as yet more focus on Ryu trying to contain the Dark Hado / Satsui no Hado (whichever you prefer) power and face Akuma. Does this blend work? Let’s take a look!

Street Fighter Legends: Ibuki & Super Street Fighter Review

Before we hit the next longer run of Street Fighter comics (which were released under the title “Street Fighter Unlimited”) we get Super Street Fighter, which serves a prelude to Unlimited as well as an introduction to characters and themes from SFIII (plus a bit more SFIV, given that game’s story hasn’t happened in this timeline, seemingly) I thought I’d throw in Legends: Ibuki as well because she too was a SFIII character and I normally package two “omnibus” releases together for these reviews, so… Yeah. Street Fighter Legends: Chun-Li and Sakura Review

Spinning off from the main line of UDON Street Fighter comics, we take a look at both a prequel in Chun-Li, and a side-story in the case of Sakura (specifically taking place roughly around the end of the Street Fighter Classic run, which is why I’ve put it here) Along with different time periods they’re also completely different story types, with one telling a basic but enjoyable cop story and the other being pure comedy.
