Red Dwarf VI Review

I constantly go back and forth as to which is the better series out of V and VI, they both feel different thanks to yet another status quo change but both have the perfect balance of genuinely funny comedy and really interesting sci-fi plots. Basically strap yourselves in for more of me praising everything! Sadly for the last time, but there you go, few shows can keep this kind of momentum going… It was also the “final series” when I got into watching it, with me and my friends losing our minds in 1997 when we heard they’d be a seventh series, so more than anything else I see this as the end of the “original series”, at least as I watched them at home in the mid-90s.. Anyway, let’s look at Series VI, shall we?

Star Wars: The Book of Boba Fett Review

The latest live action TV offering for Star Wars is here, and it’s not The Mandalorian… erm, until it is for the last three episodes, but hey-ho. They were good episodes! So, yeah, The Book of Boba Fett tells us just what the classic bounty hunter got up to post Sarlacc pit and it was actually a really interesting look at the character as he matures and finds a new life after his old one nearly led to his death. Let’s take a look!

Masters of the Universe: Revelation Review

This has been on my “Watch Later” list on Netflix for a while now and I’ve finally got round to watching it, being careful to avoid any over-the-top nastiness to do with the pushing of female characters along the way. I was a bit too young for He-Man growing up, Teenage Mutant Ninja (or Hero…) Turtles, Real Ghostbusters and G.I. Joe (or Action Force…) were more my generation’s thing, but my brother, who is four years older than me, was into it and had plenty of toys that I played with, so through that and just pop culture in general I was somewhat familiar with the basic premise of the show, but not being a fan may well have helped shield me from a lot of the criticism the show has faced. Let’s take a look either way!

Red Dwarf V Review

Red Dwarf’s fifth series once again sees a shift in tone and look, leaning even heavier towards sci-fi than sitcom and coming up with some properly great ideas, though still keeping things funny. While I’d say two episodes don’t quite hold up to the other four that’s more praise towards the crazy high standard those four have than being too harsh on the other two! Let’s take a look…

The Witcher – Season 2 Review

The Witcher’s second season is told in a more straight forward manor (not that I was one of the people who had an issue with the fractured storytelling of the first season) and has a much more central focus, giving us not just a central story arc to follow in this season but some hints as to what’s to come in the future. Plus a high budget and great action, so let’s take a look!

My Top 10 TV Series/Seasons of 2021

Well time flies when you’re having… a pretty awful year. Still, plenty on the telly! Yes 2021 was a bad year for my family but that doesn’t impact what was a good year for me outside of reality and on my TV screen. Admittedly if you’re not into Marvel or Star Wars this list would look a hell of a lot different, so I will mention that I’m not in any way being paid by Disney. Let’s face it, I don’t get the kind of views that would make that worth wile. So, let’s take a look at my Top 10 TV Series/Seasons of 2021!

Arcane: League of Legends – Season 1 Review

It took a while to convince me to watch this series as I have had zero interest in the game the show is based on, but the clips I saw were extremely impressive so once I saw a few people say no knowledge of the game was necessary to watch it I gave it a shot, and those people were right! It’s a truly stunning series visually and the story has lots of twists, believable characters and really mature storytelling, the good kind of mature storytelling, not the over-the-top swearing and nudity kind (I’m looking at you, Live Action Cowboy Bebop!) Let’s take a look!

Hawkeye – Season 1 Review

Twas the morning before Christmas and… I thought I’d upload the review of the just-finished Hawkeye series before the holidays, given its so heavily tied to it. A series based solely on Hawkeye may not have been the most obvious idea to pick but as per usual in the MCU they knew what they were doing as it was a real fun series to follow, with newly minted hero Kate Bishop being well handled and a return I have been quietly hoping for finally becoming reality. Let’s take a look!

Red Dwarf IV Review

Red Dwarf’s fourth series has an even higher hit-rate than Series III, with more episodes that would easily make it to my top 10 (though thinking about it I could say that for most of V and VI as well, so it would be a legitimately hard list to write!) and even the episodes that aren’t on that level are still really good, not one “duff” episode to be found here and beyond a greater scope of locations outside the main ship there wasn’t a major cast or tonal shift either. So let’s take a look!
