Jessica Jones – Season 2 Episodes 1 – 4 Review

JJones S2 P1

Jessica Jones’ first season was brilliant. My second overall favourite of the Netflix side of the MCU, it featured twists, turns and a really compelling villain… that was sadly (though made perfect sense for the story) killed off. That leaves Season 2 with a gaping hole that will be hard to fill, and judging by these first four episodes, that may well be the problem! “A slow start” doesn’t do it justice… Let’s take a look, anyway!

Thor: Ragnarok Review

Thor Ragnarok

After sadly missing it in the cinema, I finally got to sit down and watch Thor: Ragnarok this week. It’s an odd film, it seems to want to be Guardians of the Galaxy more than a Thor film, though given the high standard of the former and the low standard of latter, I can see why. It also wants to be a Planet Hulk film, and wants to up the laughs and pull back on the drama, so rolling all those things together makes this a bad adaptation of the Ragnarok storyline from the comics, but makes it one of the funniest and flat out most enjoyable films in the MCU… So, let’s take a closer look!

The Punisher – Season 1 Overall Review

Punisher S1

The Punisher is a return to form for the MCU’s Netflix division, and one of the best shows I’ve watched all year. It’s uncompromisingly violent, sure, but it also tells a great story, with several characters intertwined in a big conspiracy that gets out of hand. Good plot twists, set pieces and most importantly, great actors/actresses mean this is highly recommended by me, personally. Let’s take a final and overall look at what I hope is the first of many seasons…

The Punisher – Season 1 Episodes 5 – 9 Review

Punisher P2

The Punisher’s middle is full of exciting action and a few twists, but most importantly it still focuses on its cast of broken characters and develops them so well. It’s amazing how the portrayal of one event, one period of time has changed so many people in so many different ways. It’s great story telling! Hooray! Let’s take a closer look at the 5th to 9th episodes!

The Punisher – Season 1 Episodes 1 – 4 Review

Punisher S1 P1

The latest entry into the Netflix side of the MCU has arrived in the form of The Punisher. What I love about both the comics world and this one is how many completely different stories can be told within it, and nothing has exemplified this more than having watched Spider-Man Homecoming a few days ago followed by watching this! So let’s take a look at the beginning of the Punisher’s solo outing, after a great start in the Daredevil Season 2…

The Defenders – Overall Review

Defenders

It’s time to have a look at how The Defenders faired overall as a story. Over 8 episodes it managed to tell the story of four heroes finding, befriending and fighting alongside each other really well, sadly the foe they united to face remained pretty bland and uninspired. Still, can’t deny how fun the series was to watch, the interplay between everyone was great, and the lead foursome all had their stories moves forward, setting their next series’ up well. Let’s take a closer look, regardless!

The Defenders – Episodes 7 & 8 Review

Defenders P3

The Defenders comes to an end with a suitably action-packed final two episodes. Much like the earlier episodes, these don’t quite live up to some of the earlier Netflix MCU stuff, but it is very fun to watch, and well written. There is just that lack of a great villain stopping it still… Anyway, plenty good to talk about as well, so let’s take a look!

The Defenders – Episodes 4 – 6 Review

Defenders P2

The middle of The Defenders is full of interaction between the main four heroes, as well as their seconds, and plenty of new information about The Hand, including introducing all of the “Five Fingers of the Hand”. Basically it moves the plot along just enough to set the stage for the finale, but really it’s all about the four previous leads of their own series meeting each other… and it works really well! Let’s take a closer look…
