The adventures of the freshly minted War Doctor continue with his second boxset. Unlike last time all three stories are heavily linked here, though the third episode is just separate enough for my usual splitting of the boxsets to still make sense. The War Doctor arrives on a world at perpetual war and he’s heralded as a mythic figure, whether he likes it or not. Let’s take a look!

Doctor Who: Stranded 3 – Snow & What Just Happened? Review
Although it started off quite weakly Stranded 3 at least ends on a higher note as its last two episodes, while not without flaws, are much more entertaining. The final episode uses a non-traditional story method which may not be to everyone taste though, so it more than any other story in the box your opinion of it may vary greatly from mine. Want to know more? Well, why not read more to find out!
Continue readingDoctor Who: Stranded 3 – Patience & Twisted Folklore Review
Stranded continues the adventures of the Eighth Doctor, Liv, Helen and Tania (plus others…) though it’s officially switched from being stranded in modern day London to being stranded in an alternate timeline where a British corporation / cult named Divine Intervention has dominated the planet and went on to do the same to many planets in the future. Welcome departure or disappointing one? Let’s take a look at the first two stories and see if we find out!
Continue readingDoctor Who: Lost Warriors – Monsters in Metropolis Review
We reach the “main event” of the Lost Warriors boxset with Monsters in Metropolis, a story that features the first ever encounter between the Ninth Doctor and the Cybermen… well, I should say Christopher Eccleston and the Cybermen because they have met in a comic once before… Anyway, the idea of the central automaton from the all-time classic film being replaced with a Cyberman was a really fun concept and with John Dorney holding the metaphorical pen I knew the concept was in safe hands! Let’s take a look…
Continue readingDoctor Who: Lost Warriors – The Hunting Season & The Curse of Lady Macbeth Review
The Ninth Doctor is back on audio for another set of three stories, and while the third and final act rightfully has all the attention how do these first two stories fare? A mixed bag, frankly, though both feel very of-era and pass an hour with another set of great performances from Mr. Eccelston. Let’s take a look, shall we?
Continue readingThe Diary of River Song: Series 9 “New Recruit” – Never Alone & Rivers of Light Review
The second half of River Song’s ninth series is like a reverse of the previous half, instead of a good story and a forgettable one involving a false reality this one starts with a forgettable one involving a false reality and ends on a good story. The good story itself features the Third Doctor arriving and has a good bit of interaction between himself and River, which is good fun. Want to know more? Read on!
Continue readingThe Diary of River Song: Series 9 “New Recruit” – The Blood Woods & Terror of the Suburbs Review
After having grown disinterested in the Diary of River Song series (mostly when it stopped featuring Doctors, I only have so much money to spend on Doctor Who Audio Dramas!) I’ve jumped back in with Series 9, dubbed “New Recruit” because it features River arriving in Season 7 era Who and joining up with The Brig and Liz Shaw in place of The Doctor (although he does appear in the final episode…) Given this is among my favourite time periods of the show I can say I was really looking forward to it. Does it live up to my hype? Let’s find out!
Continue readingDoctor Who: The Devil’s Hoofprints Review
The second story in the latest Third Doctor boxset sees the return of the Doctor / Sarah Jane dynamic with Sadie Miller continuing the fantastic impression of her mum to go along with the always fun Tim Treloar as the Doctor and Jon Culshaw at The Brigadier. Returning actors aside though what’s the story like? Well, it’s good, though it may never surprise you. Let’s take a look…
Continue readingDoctor Who: Conspiracy in Space Review
The release of a new Third Doctor set is always a reason to celebrate in my eyes, though I’ll admit this opener being a sequel to the fun but quite dull Frontier in Space had me slightly worried. Conspiracy in Space is two episodes shorter and so does manage to keep itself moving forward and generally kept me entertained. Let’s take a closer look!
Continue readingDoctor Who: Dalek Universe 3 – The Dalek Defence / The Triumph of Davros Review
We reach the end of the Dalek Universe strand of stories as The Doctor and Anya end up stuck in the middle of the Movellan / Dalek war and soon meet not only the creator of the Daleks in Davros but meeting the progenitor of the Movellans as well…
