24’s second season, or day as it were, is a more uneven experience that its first, and this half (well, just over half) is a good example of why. We have the now infamous nuclear bomb storyline mixed in with just-post-9/11 Middle Eastern terrorism fears and more Kim Bauer nonsense than you can shake a stick at. Let’s take a look!

I’ve been wanting to finally re-watch 24 for many years now but when I put my old DVDs in a few years ago the picture, particularly around the trademark digital clock, was terrible and so I decided to wait for the “inevitable Blu-Ray release”… that never came. Then when I finally gave in it vanished off UK streaming sites altogether! Thankfully it’s now available in its up-rez, recreated clock graphics glory on Disney +’s new STAR category here in the UK, so I thought I’d finally have a good watch through from the beginning. Handily each Season is normally split in two halves with a greater threat looming over both, so it made decision on how to cover the series easier too. So, without any further ado, let’s take a look at the first chunk of episodes, shall we?

Although Season 5 still feels like the actual final season, Season 7 of Agents of SHIELD is at least a marked improvement over 6 and does a good job of basically taking a bunch of characters that have been developed to their natural end and just having a bit of a laugh with them. That’s not to say the series didn’t have its moments of more seriousness, but this did feel like the writers, cast and crew were all just having fun because they found themselves with a seventh season they weren’t really expecting… With that all said, let’s take a look!

I really enjoyed War for Cybertron – Siege last year and so, to my surprise, I was looking forward to this next six episode series, and it not only kept the momentum going but it actually surpassed it with an even more darker tone, layered characters and, most importantly in my eyes, lots of Transformers: The (animated 80s) Movie references! The Mandalorian’s second season had a LOT to live up to, thanks to its top class first season, and somehow it managed to meet it. The stakes were raised, characters from all over Star Wars appeared and most of all our lead duo both got some character development, never getting lost in the flood of new content. Although it’s only been a couple of months since I reviewed the first season, here we are with Season 2! The Boys are … no, I’m not going to say “back in town”, far too obvious… Erm, let’s just stick with “are back”. Once again underneath the dark humour, the at-times-unrelenting gore and the explicit sex scenes is a series that was genuinely entertaining and well written. Let’s take a look!
