The surprise hit (for me anyway) reaches its final third and while I didn’t enjoy it quite as much as the previous series, probably due to me having no nostalgia for Beast Wars, it still delivers a fun end to the more mature take on the source material… Then teases a sequel! Let’s take a look…

Doctor Who: Respond to All Calls – Girl Deconstructed & Fright Motif Review
After a rough and “out-of-period” three-part story we get some Ninth Doctor audio stories that are not only more tightly written and edited but feel far more like they belong alongside the 2005 series this Doctor originated from. Thankfully Christopher Eccleston is still on fine enthusiastic form behind the microphone so it makes for a fun time to listen. Want to know more? Of course you do!
Continue readingStar Wars: The Bad Batch Season 1 Review
The Bad Batch came out of nowhere when it was announced last year, taking the team of enhanced clones introduced in the final Clone Wars season and giving them the spotlight. That being said the true highlight of the series to me at least is the setting: immediately after Episode III so we see just how quick and frankly short-sighted the formation of the Empire was in the wake of Order 66. Throw in some classic Dave Filoni call-backs and great character moments and you have a hit! Let’s take a look…
Continue readingBleach: Arrancar Arc (Episodes 288 – 297) Review
This batch of ten episodes is where the anime team went into manga adaption overdrive as each episode is pretty much consistently two or so chapters each with very little added content, meaning that there is a LOT to cover so excuse the potential paragraph overload… Also: Aizen slashes a lot of people with his sword. Let’s take a look!
Continue readingStar Wars: The High Republic – The Rising Storm Review
The High Republic era continues (or continued at this point given how late this review is, but whatever…) as the next major novel arrives in “The Rising Storm”. It shifts focus away from the Beacon and some of the characters featured in “Light of the Jedi” and instead shows us a whole new crisis and focuses on some of the side characters from the previous novel alongside entirely new ones, overall expanding and fleshing out the cast as the story moves forward. Plus plenty more Nihil, which is always fun! So let’s take a closer look…
Continue readingBleach: 20th Anniversary One-Shot Chapter – No Breathes From Hell Review
So I thought to myself a few weeks ago “if the special chapter isn’t just a jokey throwaway thing I might do a quick look at it on my blog, but otherwise I have enough Bleach going up at the moment…” and then suddenly not only is it full of new continuity, characters and plot but it also seemingly starts a whole new story arc! Bizarre. Let’s take a look, though keep in mind it has spoilers for both the chapter and the overall ending of Bleach, so if you’re waiting for that 1,000 Year Blood War Arc anime adaptation you may want to skip this review…
Continue readingDoctor Who: The War Master – Killing Time Review
The War Master is back and on fine form for those who wish to hear Derek Jacobi be a completely evil git. Frankly, who doesn’t wish that? However it does have to be said that the first two episodes in this box do have mild pacing issues, so it’s not quite on the level of some of the earlier War Masters sets, especially if you don’t like political scheming. Want more detailed / spoilery thoughts? Read on!
Continue readingLoki – Season 1 Review
A little later than usual for the big MCU series (for let’s just say the most valid of reasons…) it’s time to take a look at Loki’s first season, a six episode run through multiple timelines that really came into its own as it progressed and ends on a really great episode despite it containing mostly one man giving exposition. Want to know more? Read on!
Continue readingBleach: Arrancar Arc (Episodes 279 – 286) Review
A smaller chunk of episodes this week but a chunk that actually ends the Arrancar part of the Arrancar arc, pretty much… plus Episode 287 is filler so it’s always nicer visually to just have one set of numbers in the thumbnail! So let’s take a look at what becomes of Espadas 1 – 3…
Continue readingDoctor Who: Dalek Universe 2 – The Lost Review
Dalek Universe 2 ends on an extremely high note. “The Lost” is claustrophobic, interesting and full of development for both The Doctor and Anya, as well as their relationship together. Want to know more? Well, why don’t you read the review! (or skip down to the score if you don’t want spoilers!)
