Going into watching Thunderball, all I could remember is it’s “the one with all the underwater bits in it”, and, well… that about sums it up! There are some good scenes, don’t get me wrong, but there sure is a lot of slow underwater bits… Let’s take a closer look!

Ah yes, the most quoted Bond film by far, and generally the film most, if not all, the following films base themselves on. When a film is THIS much of a classic it’s hard to review because you feel like everyone knows what you’re talking about already (I had the same problem when I reviewed the original Star Wars trilogy…) but here we go. I will state that I don’t think it’s flawless by any means, but it’s certainly a great ride. Let’s take a closer look!

The second James Bond film, From Russia With Love, is a fun story, full of a few really good moments. It also sees the debut of several classic Bond staples like Q and even Blofeld (not that he’s ever seen or named…) While not one of my all time favourites, I think I end up liking it a bit more each time I watch it… Let’s take a closer look at it!

My run through of the entire (official) Bond film franchise begins! Now, don’t expect these on any kind of regular schedule, it’s more of a “when I have the time and feel like it” situation, so several might be posted in one week, or there might be several weeks without a single one. The goal is to finish before the next Bond film is released, which is roughly the end of next year, so we should be safe! ANYWAY, Dr. No then! It’s always quite amazing how much of what we know as Bond staples were in from the very first movie, and of course, Connery is great from the off, but the film does have some flaws. Let’s take a close look…

After nine films playing Wolverine / Logan, Hugh Jackman bows out of the role in this impressive alternate future story. Violent, but also takes time to tell a great story with a really interesting set of characters. If you have to leave a beloved role, this is the best way to do it!

After finishing off the original trilogy of games yesterday, we now finish off Resident Evil Week in general with the reason for the week in the first place: the release of the new CG film Vendetta! Boy… it’s certainly a lot more violent and gory than the two before it, that’s for sure. It also has some extremely entertaining set pieces in it, and is generally a fun “shut your brain off” movie set in the Resi game universe. With that said, let’s take a closer look!

Continuing on from yesterday’s look at the second Resident Evil game, we look at the second Resident Evil CG film, Damnation, once again staring Leon S. Kennedy, and this time fellow Resident Evil 2 debutant Ada Wong. Thankfully the four years between the two films were obviously full of either leaps forward in technology, or just better technology becoming cheaper, as this film is a lot prettier to look at and full of a lot less awkward animations! Let’s take a closer look…

Resident Evil Week continues after yesterday’s look at the first game in the series. Resident Evil Degeneration is the first in what is now a trilogy of CG films set within the computer game universe of Resident Evil, and it’s a wonky affair to watch in 2017. The CG and character movement have now dated to the point where it feels like it could have been pulled off on the previous generation console hardware… Is there anything redeeming in watching this now? Well…

The MCU continues to expand into the stars as Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2 hit cinemas a month or two ago, and I saw it! … a week or two ago, because I don’t like crowded cinemas… and have very little money. Anyway! After the unexpected quality and success of the first film, can they capture lightning in a bottle twice? No, but that can at least continue being very funny and entertaining!
