The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask (Manga) Review

I’ll put up my hand and admit that I’ve never given Majora’s Mask a proper go, I didn’t like the timed aspect when I read about it at the time of its release and since then despite hearing how good it is I’ve yet to make time to play through it. So reading the Majora’s Mask manga has been interesting, though admittedly over the many years I do know all the major beats of the story so it wasn’t exactly reading it fresh it was still a different experience to the Ocarina of Time story I reviewed earlier. There’s also a fun original story about the creation of Majora’s Mask that was a good little read added on. So, let’s take a look!

A Look at the Total Extreme Wrestling Series (PC)

As I mentioned a few Wrestling Game Rundowns ago when I looked at EWR, I didn’t want to exclude its sequel series TEW when looking at my wrestling game history but I also didn’t want, at current count, eight reviews all being extremely similar to each other either. So I’ve compromised and will instead look at TEW 2004, 2005, 2007, 2008, 2010, 2013, 2016 and 2020 all at once right now as a “Special” edition of the Rundown. It obviously won’t be a deep dive into each game, but I will touch on improvements and memories / current thoughts of each iteration. So… let’s get started!

Dragon Ball: Revenge of King Piccolo (Wii) Review

The only other game I own that’s based on the original Dragon Ball series, “Revenge of King Piccolo” is essentially a Wii version of the previous game, Advanced Adventure, only focused solely on the Red Ribbon and Demon King Piccolo arcs with less modes and playable characters, BUT all in 3D, so… hooray, I guess. I brought it hoping it would be a modernised take on the GBA game but instead found a pretty safe, generic game instead. How does it hold up in 2023? Well, funnily enough, it’s much the same in that it’s a safe, generic action platformer. Let’s take a deeper look anyway… well, as deep as such a shallow game can go anyway!

Dragon Ball: Advanced Adventure (GBA) Review

I finally figured out how to get through my colossal Dragon Ball game backlog on this site: attach a game review with each movie / TV special review! Amazingly given how many films and specials the combined series has this was only JUST enough. That being said, let’s get the two Dragon Ball games I own out the way before sadly starting the Z games while still reviewing original Dragon Ball films, that’s just how much more popular the Z brand is,  and we do that with Dragon Ball: Advanced Adventure (which I could’ve sworn was called “Advance Adventure”, but I guess I was misremembering…) I remember just being happy to see a game based on the original series at the time but as it turned out it was far deeper and more addictive than I had anticipated. Let’s see if it still holds up!

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (PS2) / Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas – Definitive Edition (PS4) Review

It’s time to bring a close to my look at the PS2 GTA trilogy and their “Definitive Editions” with the iconic San Andreas. As you’d hope with the final entry in a trilogy it built upon what came before it and added so much more… everything, even cities to explore. Sadly this is the one game where its Definitive Edition is still a bit of a mess, but ignoring that little modern road bump I’ve had nothing but praise for San Andreas since it came out, let’s see if that still holds true in 2023, nearly 20 years later (bloody hell…)

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (Manga) Review

As a new on-and-off review series I’ll be looking at the Legend of Zelda manga series as I brought the rather lovely treasure chest shaped box containing the hardback Legendary editions of the series (except the Twilight Princess series anyway). While I was tempted to put them in game-release order I decided to instead follow the series as it was released, therefore let’s start with Ocarina of Time! It’s odd to be covering the Manga of OOT when I haven’t actually covered the legendary game itself yet, but there you go! Let’s take a look at how good it is as a manga, as well as comparing it to its source material (ignoring obvious differences like Link talking, obviously…)

Legends of Wrestling II (PS2) Review

After the original Legends of Wrestling was a “Fun experiment” that I quickly grew tired of Legends of Wrestling II came along and much to my surprise was far more playable than I was expecting, crossing over into just plain “good” thanks to the new territories-based career mode and the addition of four World of Sport era legends from the UK (in the PAL version). Does it still hold up in 2022 though? The answer may not be as straight forward as I would’ve thought!

Dynasty Warriors 5 / XL (PS2) Review

The Dynasty Warriors film is up next in this marathon, so why I am reviewing Dynasty Warriors 5 and not the first Dynasty Warriors? Well, the first was a pretty poor 1v1 fighting game rather than the series that film is based on that started with DW2, and DW5 was the first game in the franchise (and indeed the first Warriors game in general) I ever played, so it made the most sense. It’s not like they don’t all share the same story anyway! So let’s take a look at Dynasty Warriors 5 as well as its “XL” expansion, given you needed the original game to play it anyway so it’s more like DLC, to use modern terminology…

Mario Kart DS (Nintendo DS) Review

As Mario Kart 8 Deluxe’s fifth wave of DLC arrives so does a review of a previous entry! Mario Kart DS was easily the DS game I played the most thanks to my friend having a copy and bringing his DS round so we could play multiplayer. Playing it now I still have to applaud both the level design and graphics for the handheld, plus the amount of modes on offer. It was certainly no throw away effort, that’s for sure! Let’s take a look…

Street Fighter 6 (PS5) Review

Street Fighter 6, it’s safe to say, overachieves in its debut, a lesson clearly learned from the poor barebones release of Street Fighter V. Not only does it have a good selection of characters old and new, not only does it have arcade mode, versus, online, and other classic modes but it also has a massive and lengthy single player campaign complete with create-a-fighter facilities and open world elements plus an online hub complete with old arcade games you can play and compete against others on. Out of character in a very good way! Let’s take a more detailed look.
