I went back and forth on whether I could review Red Dwarf for the site. On the one hand I’m doing a first ever watch through from Series I to the Dave revival series so it was the optimal time but on the other hand it’s a comedy series and therefore it’s very subjective. Sure the sci-fi setting makes it fit more naturally on this blog than a sitcom in a flat or something, but it’s going to be something new to me and especially with the first six series it will be hard to separate nostalgia and look at them objectively. Oh well! Let’s give it a go, shall we?

The Expanse – Season 5 Review
Everyone’s favourite sci-fi show is back! … well, it’s my favourite anyway. The fifth season is somewhat bittersweet as it was announced to be the penultimate season, with the sixth officially classed as the final. Does it do a good job of setting up the finale? Is it actually good in its own right? Let’s find out!
Continue readingUFO – Episodes 19 – 26 Review

It’s been a little while since I last looked at Gerry Anderson’s UFO series… by which I mean over a year (given that the first two parts still have the character breakdowns on them) but hey-ho! I’ve had more time to sit down and watch them, and the one thing I didn’t want to do is watch them when I wasn’t in the mood, because that would just unfairly dampen my view. The final eight episodes have some good gems, and the lack of Col. Freeman doesn’t hurt the show as much as I feared, so… let’s take a look!
The Expanse – Season 4 Review

The next review that slipped off the schedule at the end of last year, The Expanse’s fourth season was everything the first three were, which comes as a relief after the change in company. Yes, it’s so good it came second place in my best TV series of 2019 list, so I’m happy to finally pool together my notes in a proper review. Let’s get started then, shall we?
Blake’s 7 – Audio Series 5 “Restoration – Part 3” Review

So here we have it, the final full cast Blake’s 7 audio review. It’s a shame it had to come to an end, but with yet another key cast member down, there isn’t any other choice. So does Restoration, and indeed Blake’s 7 Audio Series… series as a whole go out with a bang?! Let’s find out!
Blake’s 7 – Audio Series 5 “Restoration – Part 2” Review

After the sad passing of Paul Darrow, the full-cast Blake’s 7 audios got put on hold while they re-wrote the scripts and such. Seemingly though, that must have been mostly for Part 3 as this boxset was full to the prim of wonderfully snide and sarcastic Avon! Hooray! All four stories were really good, and one was straight up great, so let’s take a deeper look, shall we?
Arrival (2016) Review

When I started this “10 Decades” marathon, I did it thinking about giving me a good excuse to finally watch Arrival, which I’d been meaning to get around to since it came out. Well, it added an extra bunch of months compared to if I’d just sat down and watched it, but it’s been a fun ride, and I’m happy to report, it was worth it. Arrival was great! Let’s see why…
The Expanse – Season 3 Overall Review

As Amazon Prime gets ready to bring us Season 4, we here in the UK have only just got access to The Expanse’s Third Season, and boy… it was worth the wait! Once again the first few episodes end the adaptation of a book that started in the previous season, but this time the third novel is adapted fully by the end of the series, and it makes for a crazy ride! Let’s take a closer look…
UFO – Episodes 9 -18 Review

It’s been a little while, but let’s get back to UFO for the second third of the series. Once again its a mix of really good episodes, including more Straker family drama, and episodes that are just flat-out boring. Thankfully there are far more of the former than the latter, and some episodes were really ahead of their time. Let’s take a deeper look.
Blake’s 7 – Audio Series 5 “Restoration – Part 1” Review

It’s been a little while, but we’re back with more Blake’s 7 from Big Finish. Following on from the three-box series “Crossfire”, the first box of “Restoration” not only settles the cliffhanger from the end of the previous set, but also puts us on an interesting course going forward, as any good follow up should do, while not forgetting plot points already set in motion… So let’s take a closer look at these four episodes, and kick off “Audio Series 5”!
