Sonic The Hedgehog 3 (Mega Drive) Review

I had a lot to think about when it came to this quick one-off return to the Game to Movie Marathon, as technically if I was doing the Sonic games in order with the films I’d be reviewing Sonic CD here (or really I’d have reviewed CD with the second movie and 2 now, but that would really be confusing!) also given Sonic 3 the movie focuses so much on Shadow would a review of Sonic Adventure 2 make more sense here? I ended up matching 3 with 3 for the sake of nicely matching visuals, but then I had to surrender to my childhood nostalgia and keep 3 separate from “& Knuckles”, which it’s often paired with it (for good reason, don’t get me wrong…) Basically a review of Sonic The Hedgehog 3 to coincide with Sonic the Hedgehog 3, so let’s take a look at another one of my childhood favourites, shall we?

Doctor Who: Snare Review

The latest series of Ninth Doctor adventures are the biggie as it has Christopher Eccleston reunite with Billie Piper, reforming the Doctor/Rose combo that made up the entirety of their TV run. After three series’ worth of boxsets featuring the Ninth Doctor travelling by himself this a nice break and is a fun story to start on, and one that crucially feels very “of the time”, which is admittedly weird way to talk about 2005, but hey-ho… Let’s take a look!

Star Wars: The High Republic – Trials of the Jedi Review

Well, here we are, some four and a half years after I posted the review of Light of the Jedi we have reached the end of the High Republic… at least as it was planned out as there are clearly more stories to be told in this era (and not including the last Marvel comic story arc and the comic epilogue, I’ll review them when they’re on Marvel Unlimited…) Still, what of the Nameless, the Blight and Marchion Ro? What of the Jedi characters we’ve all come to love, like Avar Kriss, Elzar Mann, Bell and Burryaga? How about the rivalry between Porter Engle and Abediah Viess? So many questions, and to my relief, so many extremely satisfying answers! Let’s take a look…

Doctor Who: Time War – Uncharted 2: Pursuit Review

The Time War strand of Eighth Doctor adventure’s Uncharted strand (yes, that’s a strand of a strand!) continues with “Pursuit” and I’m sad to say that despite a really fun cliffhanger last time this set is rather bland, and steadfastly refuses to having any forward momentum until the last moment, and that’s only barely different to how Set 1 ended. If this were an adaptation of something I’d label these stories “filler”, clearly existing to stretch the story out longer without adding anything significant. I will say that the final story, “The First Forest”, was good fun at least, it’s just the three leading up to it that lets the side down… which is a lot given that’s three-thirds of the set! Let’s take a look…

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba The Movie – Infinity Castle Anime UK News Review

Another one of those rare “cinema screener” reviews from myself (plus a review from a co-writer who actually went to a physical screening!) this time for the latest, insanely high-Japanese-box-office offering from the Demon Slayer franchise. It can be viewed by clicking HERE.

Basically, it’s more of the same, which given its the (first third of the) final arc makes sense!

Star Wars: The High Republic – The Edge of Balance Volumes 3 and 4 Review

It’s time for our first “final” something in the High Republic range as we wrap up the Manga releases with the last two volumes. Now, I actually read these after finishing “Trials of the Jedi”, but as that’s the final book set after these I thought I’d put this up first, even though they’ll still be the final comics to review after Trials but as I’m reliant on Marvel Unlimited for those I’m not going to wait months to put these up! ANYWAY, Edge of Balance wraps up Lily’s time on Banchii and features the always fun duo of Azlin Rel and Reath Silas, the former having debuted and “turned” during this very Manga run, so it’s rather fitting really, even if his actions here don’t really line up with what happens in Trials…

Doctor Who: Past Forward Review

The not-particularly-good run of Seventh Doctor-Naomi-Harry stories come to their conclusion with “Past Forward”, a rather odd set in that it’s two stories but one story takes place in the middle of another one but impacts the second half of the first story greatly. Keeping up? Good! So really its one long story which is why I’ve not split the set up. John Dorney’s “With the Angels” is a cracker too, the one that makes up the first and third of the set, with the exception of one too many fourth-wall-breaking references to a popular YouTube show during its second half. Anyway, let’s take a look at how Naomi and Harry leave, and how a new companion starts…

Doctor Who: The Remains of Kaerula / The Ruins of Kaerula Review

The next load of Fourth Doctor audio dramas have arrived, and sadly this double-bill fits into that all too frequent category of “dull and forgettable”. I guess because they have to make so many often one hours stories for Mr. Baker is why so many of his “Fourth Doctor Adventures” fall flat, but that’s not really an excuse when plenty have been good, and a few great. Oh well, let’s get my thoughts down before I literally forget everything about it…
