Ending this year’s “Fourth Doctor Adventures” run is The Primeval Design, a story that sadly is neither here nor there. I didn’t know what to expect going into a story called “The Tribulations of Thaddeus Nook”. It sounded like some done-to-death Victorian era story again, but turns out its nothing of the sort and was actually really good fun! Here we go then, not only the last stand-alone Fifth Doctor story in the classic “Main Range”, but also the last single Doctor, four-part story in the Main Range. While I’m sure the boxsets that replace it will be perfectly fine, it is a shame to say goodbye to what has always been the backbone of Big Finish Doctor Who. So before we get to the final multi-Doctor release next month let’s look at “The Blazing Hour”, a Fifth Doctor and Turlough story, which in itself is quite rare. … Uh-oh. You know when you remember something being bad, then when you return to it it’s somehow worse than you remembered? Well.. That. Mission to Magnus, despite being written in the 80s, is somehow more sexist than Prison in Space, written in the 60s, and has a really gratingly bad child actor to boot. How did this nearly get made as part of the original Season 23? As a fan of the Ice Warriors I imagine appearing in this story would’ve been worse than what actually happened to them, and what actually happened is they weren’t brought back on screen for decades. It’s funny that its taken this long to swing back round to the Lost Stories that started them all, but here we are! The Nightmare Fair is the first of an impressive run of eleven Sixth Doctor Lost Stories (twelve if I hadn’t already reviewed Ultimate Evil) and is one of the ones I knew about before the range started. It was originally supposed to kick off Season 23, with the last line of Revelation of the Daleks originally making reference to Blackpool being their next destination before everything became uncertain and they removed it. So how does the Nightmare Fair hold up? Is it better than the other Lost Story featuring one of the Celestial Beings?… It would be hard not to be! Let’s take a look!

It’s time to end both the Glorious Dead graphic novel and the era of black and white Who comics as we take a look at three light-hearted adventures that originally came out in between and after the titular Glorious Dead, but were all collected at the back of the GN for pacing purposes.
