Supergirl Season 4 kicks off with a rather on-the-nose look at racism and nationalism in our current society by transplanting aliens as the new foreign menace that are stealing people’s jobs and can’t be trusted etc. It’s all rather dull, and in my case (and hopefully yours too!), it’s preaching to the choir and taking a lot of the reality-escaping fun away from the show… So, yeah. Let’s take a closer look!
Arrow Season 3, Flash Season 3, Supergirl Season 3. What do all these seasons have in common? They’re all poor examples of the show, and denote a really big downturn in quality. Yep, Supergirl Season 3 actually makes the exact same mistake as Flash’s third season by dropping the humour and superheroics in favour of angst and family drama, except this time it doesn’t haven’t have some of the good episodes thrown in. Let’s take an overall look then…
Supergirl’s third seasons comes to a disappointing end, with a particularly bad finale. It’s a real shame because the first third really showed promise for an interesting season ahead, but sadly it kept the theme of melodrama and angst and focused less and less about the super powers and… well, superheroics, until we got to this… *sigh* Let’s take a look, then…
Due to the odd scheduling of the Arrowverse this time round, Supergirl’s second third goes up for review just a week or so before Flash and Arrow get their finales put up! Carrying on from before Christmas, Supergirl and her team have to go up against Reign, the “worldkiller”, and then as it turns out, she’s not alone… Let’s have a look!
Supergirl Season 3 is off to a rocky start, oddly making the same mistakes the Flash Season 3 writers made by making everyone be all downbeat, snappy and generally having a bad time (although at least funny side characters still retain their sense of humour, so it’s not quite THAT bad) That being said, it has set up a good season villain in Reign and set the groundwork for a few new characters to make their debut next year. So let’s have a look at the first eight episodes (that doesn’t include the crossover episode 8 that’s covered else where…) of Supergirl Season 3!
The second season of Supergirl is a vast improvement over the first, though that isn’t surprising given, like most first seasons/series of things, it took a while to find its feet. This season wasn’t without weak points, but was definitely an enjoyable watch.
The far more consistently good second season of Supergirl comes to a close with the last five episodes. Full on invasion, love stories and a Superman-Supergirl fist fight highlight a chaotic but fun finale. Let’s take a closer look!
