My Top 10 Games of 2024

I knew going in that 2024 might be a bit more of a lean year game-wise, but thanks to games like Star Wars: Outlaws just disappointing me (to the point of an extremely rare giving up halfway through and selling it scenario) and the latest Assassin’s Creed game, normally good for an early Top 10 placement, getting delayed to next year it’s more lean than I’d imagined. Plus due to its length and having already played through a similarly-lengthy Atlus RPG a few months earlier I haven’t played Metaphor: Refantazio, nor have I played Astro Bot, two games that dominated most Top Games lists elsewhere. It’s so bad I’ve thrown in a few compilation re-releases to make up the Top 10, something I really didn’t want to do but a “Top 7” just sounds weird, so… Hey-ho. Also every game this year is either a sequel or a remake, so either I’m getting old and refusing to look into new things or the business has really gotten lazy… Either way, let’s take a look!

My Top 10 Doctor Who Stories of 2024

For the first time in many years I haven’t actually gotten around to listening to all the Big Finish releases this years, thanks in part to falling behind due to the new website/app disaster from a few months ago. So if any of December’s releases end up being better than my Number 10 pick… bugger. With that being said it’s also been a few years since we’ve had a year with a full Series of Doctor Who airing, so at least there’s a greater pool of stories to choose from! Let’s take a look…

My Top 10 TV Series/Seasons of 2024

It’s been an odd year for TV for me, thanks to playing a lot of long-form games and having a lot less free time in general there have been shows I’d normally have watched but I never got round to, like the second seasons of Arcane or Squid Game (though that only coming out a few days ago meant it never really had a chance…) That being said, there were still some shows I enjoyed but didn’t make the cut, like Agatha All Along or Star Wars: Tales of the Empire, so I guess it can’t be all bad. Also reminder: this is what I’ve enjoyed the most, not necessarily what has contained the best acting or anything like that… With that out of the way, let’s take a look!

My Top 10 Games of 2023

There have been a lot of years with the “Top 10 Games of 2023” where I’ve had to put one or two on that barely count just to make up the ten but this year I made a full ten quite easily, and had a rough time picking what should be Number 1. Also like prior years there is a major game missing, this time Baldur’s Gate III as it’s just not the kind of genre / game I like to play, so you’ll just have to excuse its absence here. As I always say, this is my top 10 of the games I’ve played, so there are bound to be games I just don’t have the time to play (especially as I like playing plenty of older games too!) So with that said, let’s take a look!

My Top 10 Doctor Who Stories of 2023

I always enjoy the Top 10 Doctor Who story list I do each year, I believe unlike the lists either side that It’s pretty unique to this site. 2023 was a tough year to fill out the bottom and middle because a lot of stories were “very good” but only three or so I actually gave a full 5 to. Interested in which ones landed where? Let’s take a look!

My Top 10 TV Series/Seasons of 2023

Another year, another Top 10 TV series / seasons list! Although I’ve been enjoying Season 2 of What If…? It failed to make the cut, which makes this the first list since Disney + started that an MCU show hasn’t made it on here somewhere, which is a shame, but there you go. At least anime and Star Wars had me covered! Let’s take a look…

Ranking the Doctor Who Multi-Doctor Stories

After a lengthy “catch up marathon” it’s time for the main event, on today the 60th Anniversary of Doctor Who’s first episode going live, I’m going to rank all 43 multi-Doctor stories I could find (not including short stories, as there was a surprising amount of them and so few are actually easy to find, and not including stories where two version of the SAME Doctor feature, as that’s still technically multiple Doctors but not in the way I mean…) Now the key thing here is I’m not ranking them on anything other than being a good multi-Doctor story, and by that I mean having fun multi-Doctor interactions and more often than not, some good anniversary stuff as well. So while some stories lower down on the list are clearly better than some higher that most likely means that the multi-Doctor aspect was only a small part of it. Make sense? Good. Let’s rank ‘em!

My Top 10 Games of 2022

Another year, another “Top 10 Games” list that I feel the need to stress that I’m aware some great games aren’t on it because I simply haven’t played them. I’m just one man with a blog and a full time job, not a website that gets sent review copies! So I’m sure God of War: Ragnarok should be near or at the top of the list, but I can’t put it on there because I haven’t played it… I have played a lot of games that didn’t get released in 2022 though, including looking at 120 hours + on Super Robot Wars 30 thanks to buying all of its DLC along with the base game… and I’m still not done with it! So let’s look at what 10 games I managed to cobble together this year!

My Top 10 Doctor Who Stories of 2022

Another year with Doctor Who barely on TV (which is still better than all the years it wasn’t on TV at all, but still…) so once again this list is heavy on the Big Finish audio side, though it’s also heavy on the more modern Who side due to the switch to boxset format not going too well for Doctors 6 and 7, quality-wise. Still who’d have thought Christopher Eccelston’s Ninth Doctor would appear so frequently on a list from any year other than 2005? (not that this blog was here to make this list then, but you know what I mean…) Great stuff. Let’s take a look and hope Russell T. Davies’ return to showrunner will make the next few year’s lists a bit more interesting, though Mr. Chibnall’s run may end on a higher note than it frankly deserves…

My Top 10 TV Series/Seasons of 2022

What a fun year for TV it’s been for me. Star Wars has had hit after hit (for different reasons) throughout 2022 and services like Netflix and Amazon Prime unleashed some big hitters in my field of view as well. Throw in some good Anime seasons and this year has been one of the rare ones where some good series have been left off due to having to do just 10, which is great, so honourable mentions to stuff like Umbrella Academy S3, which was still a lot of fun; She-Hulk which was half genuinely funny but half “not really my cup of tea”; Gundam: Witch From Mercury has had some great set up and character development but yet to really get going; and the final two thirds of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean, which had an amazing finale but was pretty standard up to the that point… Let’s take a look at which made it!
