“What’s old is new again” is the motto for Assassin’s Creed Mirage as it’s far closer to the original 7th Generation XBOX360/PS3 Assassin’s Creed games in structure, scope and a lot of the gameplay mechanics too. The only problem is the story itself isn’t very interesting, especially as our lead’s final fate was revealed in the previous game, which is especially frustrating because this is the first AC game to not have any modern day story content at all, something I’ve wanted since day 1 of the franchise… Oh well, let’s take a look!

Mobile Suit Gundam 00: Awakening of the Trailblazer Review
Thanks to a production delay meaning the Gundam Seed movie wasn’t released until literally now as I type this in 2024 (blimey…) Gundam 00: Awakening of the Trailblazer became the first non-UC Gundam movie released in cinemas and with it a lot of controversy. You see, as teased at the end of Season 2 the main threat of the movie is an alien race known as the ELS (“Extraterrestrial Living-metal Shape-shifters”) making this the also the first Gundam… anything to have aliens in it, something more associated with Super Robot shows than the “Real Robot” ones that Gundam pioneered. Does it work? Well, sort of. It matches what 00 has been going for from the start narrative-wise but sadly regardless of the aliens I find the film a bit of a slog… Let’s take a deeper look!
Continue readingDoctor Who: The Last Day – Part 1 Review
While only half done I think “The Last Day” might be a classic case of “careful what you wish for” because I complained that the Sixth Doctor’s audio-exclusive final adventure before his regeneration was rather flat and uneventful but here the Seventh Doctor’s audio-exclusive final adventure is so over-stuffed with characters, continuity and episodes that it’s so far pretty poor, I have to say. I mean I know I’m technically judging half a story but boy if this half is the set up I don’t have a lot of faith in the second half having a good pay-off given just how many characters and storyline strings are going on… Let’s take a look anyway!
Continue readingRed Dwarf X Review
Red Dwarf X (because they counted the “Back to Earth” special as Series IX) is a true return to form for the series, with the cast reduced back to the classic four from Series III – VI, with six half hour episodes most of which are good to even great. The next few series sort of drop to middling (if memory serves) but X at the very least was, and as it turns out still is, a real treat to watch. Let’s take a deeper look!
Continue readingWhat If…? Season 2 Review
I really enjoyed the first season of What If…? but I saw so few people talking about it that I didn’t think a second season was too likely, but here we are! (and with a third confirmed as well for that matter) Season 2 had plenty of fun stories with the same level of surprising actors actually coming back to continue their roles, plus a very loose adaptation of the 1602 comics and an episode introducing an entirely new character to the MCU canon (even if it is in another universe…) Let’s take a look.
Continue readingDoctor Who: Enemy Mine – Exit Strategy Review
The War Doctor Begins, um, ends with “Exit Strategy” and with it the story of sort-of companion Case. Thankfully the odd and tragic story is brought to a good conclusion that also features another good look into the relationship between the War Doctor and his earlier selves, more specifically his previous self. Let’s take a look!

You can read my review of the first half of Season 2 by clicking HERE.
Gundam 00 reaches its TV series conclusion with a string of pretty crazy episodes, both plot-wise and action set pieces-wise. While there are some definite highlights and the final confrontations at the end are very satisfying it is hard not to once again look back at the more varied and interesting world of Season 1 instead of the more straight forward good vs. evil plot featured here, but that’s still not to say this season doesn’t have some great moments, just that I do now understand when people say that Season 1 was better, where as before it all sort of blended together in my mind due it being so long since I watched them. Anyway, let’s take a look at the end of 00! The series. The actual end comes after this…
Continue readingDoctor Who: Enemy Mine – The Hybrid’s Choice & Fear Nothing Review
“Enemy Mine” is the last War Doctor Begins box set (although there is already a stand-alone release featuring Jonathan Carley’s great early War Doctor announced so thankfully it’s not the last in general) so it’s time to tie up the one dangling loose end that is Case. At the end of the previous box set she had merged with a Berserker Dalek and then was recruited by the enemy side, so does the story come to a happy end? … Well, you’ll have to wait for the final story in the set to be reviewed in a couple of days, but as for the first two stories? Let’s take a look!
Continue readingX-Men: The Animated Series – Season 3 Episodes 1 – 11 Review
Managed to get a lot more X-Men watched over the “festive period” so let’s get started with the first half of Season 3, which sees the most enjoyable adaptation of the Phoenix Saga in any medium (with the Dark Phoenix stuff following in the second half of the season for the record!) plus some fun stand-alone stories as well, including the return of Apocalypse (hooray!) and Mojo (ugh…) The season has a general greater focus on sci-fi than the Earth-based issues they’ve tackled in the previous two seasons (Magneto doesn’t appear at all this season!) which certainly gives it a different feel, so let’s take a look!
Continue readingKingdom Hearts: Final Mix (PS4) Review
Over the past couple of years I reviewed one series I’d played many times (the PS2 GTA games) and one I’d always wanted to play (Mass Effect Trilogy) so I thought I’d do the same again, and in this case Kingdom Hearts is the series I’ve never played before but it’s always been on my “I’d like to try that some day” list, especially as more and more people started ragging on its apparently convoluted storyline (I do love a good convoluted storyline…) So I saw a “Story So Far” collection of most of the games on PS4 for under a tenner and thought, why not? Sora in Smash only pushed the series back into the forefront of my mind anyway. So what did I think of the original game? I really enjoyed it, actually! Let’s take a deeper look from someone playing the 2002 RPG for the first time in 2023…
