After enjoying the two High Republic books so much and with a subscription to Marvel Unlimited I’ve been reading each issue as they’ve appeared on the digital service. The first two story arcs make up the first eight issues and form a very satisfying whole that fills in a gap in between the first two books as well as showing us what some of the more higher profile Jedi from Book 1 were doing during Book 2. So… let’s take a look!

JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean (Episodes 1 – 12) Anime UK News Review
I will get round of covering all of JoJo’s at some point on this blog, including Stone Ocean in far more spoilery detail, but for now my spoiler-free (unless you’ve been avoiding the trailers, I guess) review of Stone Ocean’s first twelve episodes for Anime UK News can be found by clicking HERE.
Good fun, as the series always tends to be…
Doctor Who: Warbringer – Consequences & Destroyer Review
The adventures of the freshly minted War Doctor continue with his second boxset. Unlike last time all three stories are heavily linked here, though the third episode is just separate enough for my usual splitting of the boxsets to still make sense. The War Doctor arrives on a world at perpetual war and he’s heralded as a mythic figure, whether he likes it or not. Let’s take a look!
Continue readingThe Matrix Reloaded Review
The Matrix Reloaded is often considered to be a poor sequel, and while that may be the case (the original is a hard act to follow) is it still a bad film by itself? When it came out in the cinema I didn’t think so, I thought it was frankly “awesome”, and while my opinion has changed from my 18-year-old self in the subsequent re-watches I still think it holds up as a fun two-ish hours. Let’s take a look!
Continue readingDoctor Who: Stranded 3 – Snow & What Just Happened? Review
Although it started off quite weakly Stranded 3 at least ends on a higher note as its last two episodes, while not without flaws, are much more entertaining. The final episode uses a non-traditional story method which may not be to everyone taste though, so it more than any other story in the box your opinion of it may vary greatly from mine. Want to know more? Well, why not read more to find out!
Continue readingStreet Fighter V – Volumes 1 and 2 Review
I really wanted to finish off my look at the UDON Street Fighter comics before the end of the year and I’ve now done it, just. Sadly these last two volumes are all over the place: full to the brim with one-off stories that either tie up a bit of continuity, hint at but not actually adapt the Street Fighter V game storyline or just exist to try and make you laugh. It’s basically a short story collection, which would be fine if it had a subtitle other that “Street Fighter V” on it, as that implies something a bit more substantial. Oh well, let’s take a last look at some Street Fighter UDON comics! (Well, for now. They haven’t lost the license or anything, these are just the one I got in that Humble Bundle ages ago…)
Continue readingPsycho-Pass: Sinners of the System – Case 03 “On The Other Side of Love and Hate” Review
In terms of the “Sinners of the System” mini-films this was the big one, not just because it’s the longest but because it focuses on Shinya Kogami, the co-protagonist of the original Psycho-Pass and fan favourite, showing us how he goes from wandering mercenary back to Japan. It’s got the longest title, with “On the Other Side of Love and Hate” being the reason I dropped putting the titles in the thumbnails for these films… also it has the biggest scope out of the three stories and some really great animation, so let’s take a look to see if the story matches up to it!
Continue readingDoctor Who: Stranded 3 – Patience & Twisted Folklore Review
Stranded continues the adventures of the Eighth Doctor, Liv, Helen and Tania (plus others…) though it’s officially switched from being stranded in modern day London to being stranded in an alternate timeline where a British corporation / cult named Divine Intervention has dominated the planet and went on to do the same to many planets in the future. Welcome departure or disappointing one? Let’s take a look at the first two stories and see if we find out!
Continue readingThe Matrix Review
“No one can be told what the Matrix is, they have to see it for themselves” was the trailer tag line that got me and my friends excited to see this film in the cinema, and against all odds it lived up to the hype and then some. With a fourth film only a few weeks away I thought it would be the ideal time to take a look at the original trilogy. Ground-breaking would be an understatement but what’s the film like to watch now in 2021, when the subsequent films were less well received, and the franchise’s innovations are now commonplace? Let’s take a look!
Continue readingDoctor Who: Flux – The Vanquishers Review
After five episodes of build up does Chris Chibnall stick the landing?! … *sigh*, no, of course he doesn’t. I thought there were too many spinning plates for all of them to get a satisfying resolution but I didn’t expect practically NONE of them to get any real sense of resolution at all. As the end credits rolled I just wondered why I’d bothered getting invested in anything the past month and a half, and that’s not a great way to leave your audience! Let’s take a closer look then…
