Although it started off quite weakly Stranded 3 at least ends on a higher note as its last two episodes, while not without flaws, are much more entertaining. The final episode uses a non-traditional story method which may not be to everyone taste though, so it more than any other story in the box your opinion of it may vary greatly from mine. We reach the “main event” of the Lost Warriors boxset with Monsters in Metropolis, a story that features the first ever encounter between the Ninth Doctor and the Cybermen… well, I should say Christopher Eccleston and the Cybermen because they have met in a comic once before… Anyway, the idea of the central automaton from the all-time classic film being replaced with a Cyberman was a really fun concept and with John Dorney holding the metaphorical pen I knew the concept was in safe hands! The second half of River Song’s ninth series is like a reverse of the previous half, instead of a good story and a forgettable one involving a false reality this one starts with a forgettable one involving a false reality and ends on a good story.
