Red Dwarf – Series III Review

Red Dwarf’s third series is the first of many complete shifts in setting, cast and tone that the show undergoes, this time adding Kryten as a regular cast member and setting several stories off Red Dwarf entirely. While I don’t think there is a complete dud in the series it is split in half between three all-time classic episodes and three other episodes, funnily enough in that order. Want to know more, or rather my opinions in review form? Read on!

The Brides of Dracula Review

The first official sequel to the Hammer classic Dracula doesn’t actually feature Dracula at all, instead one of his old victims is still around and eventually freed. Thankfully it does include the return of Peter Cushing’s Van Helsing and once again his gravitas and refusal to do anything other than taking the role super-seriously really helps the film. Let’s take a look then!

Dracula (1958) Review

When um-ing and ah-ing over what horror series to review this Halloween I eventually landed on the Hammer Dracula films, as to me this original Dracula was THE classic version. Obviously the Universal films from the 30s and 40s are the actual originals but I never saw them growing up but I did see this film at some point late at night in the 90s and I loved it, it’s what I always mentally refer back to when some property or another mentions Dracula. Given I’ve only seen one of the EIGHT sequels this should be quite the experience in the lead up to October 31st, so let’s get started, shall we?

Special Halloween Marathon Starts Today!

Starting tonight and running all the way to Halloween itself I’ll be taking a look at all NINE Hammer Dracula films with each review going up at 7pm.

My usual Mon-Fri morning reviews that I’ve somehow kept up with will continue as normal throughout the week, so don’t fret if you have no interest in cheesy British B movies! Have fun and … *spooky noises* or something, I don’t know.

Mobile Suit Gundam SEED HD Overall Review

Another Gundam series done, though unusually for an alternate universe show there is still another series and a film to talk about later down the road. Gundam SEED is an odd one, it ups the teen angst and drama while following the original Gundam series’ blueprint very closely for its first half before thankfully deviating to a more original story to end. Plus it has more Gundams than you can shake a stick at! Let’s take a final overall look then, once again a more detailed breakdown of the series in four chunks of episodes can be found by clicking on the Gundam tab above…

Squid Game – Season 1 Review

Is this bandwagon jumping? Well, no, if that were the case I would’ve marathoned the series and got a review up much quicker, but I will say the show wouldn’t have been on my radar at all had its popularity not exploded. In fact I love the fact that a Korean live action drama series has become so popular worldwide given a lot of people often stick their noses up at subtitles or live action dubs. With that all being said, what did I think of the show? Funny you should ask, though the answer probably won’t surprise you…

Doctor Who: Dalek Universe 3 – The First Son Review

It’s time for the final Dalek Universe set and we kick off with a more self-contained story that does at least set up the Davros and Dalek-filled two-part finale while also telling its own tale. Is that tale any good though, that’s the main question and frankly the answer is… It’s alright. Let’s take a look!

The Walking Dead – Season 11 Part 1 Review

It’s time for the final Part 1 review of a season of The Walking Dead, well that’s currently airing anyway (I will go back to do the older seasons on this blog at some point…) Much to my surprise these eight episodes have had a really high hit rate, with some standout episodes reaching a real pre-Rick’s-death high. Sadly the parts of these episodes I didn’t like are the parts that are setting up the next and final story arc, so that doesn’t bode well for the other two thirds, but hey-ho… Let’s look at Part 1, shall we?
