Warriors Abyss (PS5) Review

Well this was a surprise, literally as it was suddenly revealed and shadow dropped last month! I was expecting the first and only new Warriors review to go up on this blog to be Dynasty Warriors Origins but as that still hasn’t dropped to a price I’m comfortable with I’m happy to get this rather addictive Roguelike with nostalgic characters (i.e. reused models) from the peak of both the Dynasty and Samurai Warriors series instead. Is it perfect? No, but it’s relatively cheap (so long as you’re not interested in vastly over priced costumes!) and really fun. Let’s take a closer look, as the game has understandably gone under the radar I feel this is one of the few reviews that might actually matter in the long run!

Dynasty Warriors Review

I’ll admit it’s going to be hard to review this one as while it is an adaptation of a game series I’ve loved since its fifth of currently nine entries it’s also a Chinese film that pulls together an all-star ensemble cast but due to being completely unfamiliar with the country’s films that was completely lost on me, and I can’t compare it to other films of its country-specific subgenre (known as Wu Xia, apparently) either. Still though, I can judge it purely on whether I liked it or not, and after all isn’t that all I normally do anyway? So let’s take a look!

Dynasty Warriors 5 / XL (PS2) Review

The Dynasty Warriors film is up next in this marathon, so why I am reviewing Dynasty Warriors 5 and not the first Dynasty Warriors? Well, the first was a pretty poor 1v1 fighting game rather than the series that film is based on that started with DW2, and DW5 was the first game in the franchise (and indeed the first Warriors game in general) I ever played, so it made the most sense. It’s not like they don’t all share the same story anyway! So let’s take a look at Dynasty Warriors 5 as well as its “XL” expansion, given you needed the original game to play it anyway so it’s more like DLC, to use modern terminology…

Warriors Orochi 4 Ultimate (PS4) Review

Warriors Orochi 4 Ultimate

So in between Outer Worlds and Resident Evil 3 Remake I played through Warriors Orochi 4 Ultimate. Now, often Warriors games are pretty crazy, but given the premise of this game can be summed up as “Odin faces off with Zeus as a group of Three Kingdoms era Chinese warriors and some Samurai from the Japanese Sengoku period get caught in the middle”, this might take the cake. Bloody fun though! Let’s take a closer look…

Dynasty Warriors 9 (PS4) Review

Dynasty Warriors 9

I’ve been a fan of Dynasty Warriors since the fifth entry, which sounds like I got in late, but then when you factor in how many not just core games, but spin-off titles I’ve played since then, then I’ve played A LOT of them. That’s why Dynasty Warriors 9 intrigued me so much, it was trying something new! New in a Warriors game! Is this change good though, or is it Dynasty Warriors 6 all over again? Let’s fine out!

Dynasty Warriors: Gundam (XBOX 360) Review

DWG

To celebrate the last part of my review of the Original Gundam series going up on the main review site, I thought I’d review the first Gundam game I ever played over here on Hogan Game Reviews. Dynasty Warriors: Gundam was not only the first Gundam game I played, but it introduced me to the world of Gundam outside of Wing and Seed, the only two series I’d seen at that point. Ignoring all that, though, what’s it like to play now?
