Doctor Who: Time Lord Victorious – The Minds of Magnox Review

Time Lord Victorious continues this month, in several different formats, but starts with this one-hour audiobook. Now while I prefer full cast audio drama, I have no issue with a good audiobook, and thankfully Jacob Dudman does a good Tenth Doctor and has a good enough range for the rest of the characters, plus reading the prose. All that being said, is it actually any good? Let’s find out!

Doctor Who: The One Doctor Review

The One Doctor is a bit of an odd-ball in this Christmas specials look, as it technically doesn’t have anything to do with Christmas. It was released in December 2001, but that’s about it… except it’s clearly a light-hearted comedy affair set up to be Big Finish’s “Christmas Panto”. For that reason I feel it deserves to be here on this list, unlike the next year’s release “Bang Bang-a-Boom”, which while more light-hearted felt more like a Star Trek parody than anything Pantomime-y. ANYWAY, so let’s have a look at the first of five audio Christmas offerings in a row!

Doctor Who: Ghosts Review

Ghosts sees The Doctor and River Song arrive on a planet of ghosts, unsurprisingly. Thankfully unlike the bland title it’s a clever story, more so than most, so now more than ever pay attention to the spoiler warning! Don’t want spoilers? Then just skip to the score to see if it’s worth your time (there are no spoilers in the Overall Thoughts, I should make that more obvious really…) After a great and a good story, does the “Doctor and River Song” set end on an equal high, or a disappointing low? Let’s find out!

Doctor Who: Precious Annihilation Review

The Doctor and River trio continues as we get our first “traditional” story with the characters, though admittedly one that takes them across different time periods rather than a single adventure in one place. Does a more familiar, almost Doctor-Companion set up work with River Song and the Tenth Doctor? Let’s find out!

Doctor Who: Expiry Dating Review

We kick off a trio of Tenth Doctor and River Song stories with Expiry Dating, what would be, from The Doctor’s perspective, their second encounter, just after Donna had left. It’s nearly entirely told via messages to each other, from one end of time and the universe to another, and includes several legitimately funny cameos and scenes. How does it rate over all? Let’s find out!

Doctor Who: Shadow of the Daleks 2 Review

It’s time for the second half of this makeshift “eight one-parters forming a sort-of whole” story and see how it comes to a close. The first part was a mixed bag of good and average, with the whole “meeting the same people in different roles” thing wearing a bit thin by the end. Is three more episodes worth it before getting to the big finale? Well…

Doctor Who: Time Lord Victorious – Enemy of my Enemy Review

Let’s take a look at the latest addition to the “Time Lord Victorious” story arc: The Enemy of my Enemy. So we saw… or read in “The Knight, The Fool and The Dead” that The Eighth Doctor arrived in the Dark Times on a Dalek ship to stop his future self, this story is how he got there…

Doctor Who: The War Master – Hearts of Darkness Review

As predicted, even though the original run of four stories formed a nice circular whole, the War Master range proved so popular that it returns not long after it last appeared. “Hearts of Darkness” is another hand-wavey encounter between the War Master and the Eighth Doctor (presumably set before their other encounter, which ends in a mind wipe) but it instead brings up an old sci-fi cliché with interesting results. Want actual detail? Read on!

Doctor Who: The Children of Seth Review

Another Fifth Doctor Lost Story, another case of Nyssa getting her mind messed with! Also, another Big Finish story featuring David Warner doing his same voice… Ah well. What else does The Children of Seth offer? Why more politics and androids, obviously! Yes, this story does feel like a lot of existing Fifth Doctor stories mashed together, but is it any good? That’s the main question!

Doctor Who: Hexagora Review

The Fifth Doctor lost stories rocket on then, as we get a very of-era story set on an alien world that has coincidentally copied Tudor London for their city, which would’ve been handy at the time for existing sets and costumes! Involving an old friend of Tegans and some body snatching, it’s got a lot going on, but is it good, or should it have stayed on the cutting room floor? … Wait, cutting room floor doesn’t make any sense, it was just never commissioned, erm… never mind.
