Street Fighter 6 (PS5) Review

Street Fighter 6, it’s safe to say, overachieves in its debut, a lesson clearly learned from the poor barebones release of Street Fighter V. Not only does it have a good selection of characters old and new, not only does it have arcade mode, versus, online, and other classic modes but it also has a massive and lengthy single player campaign complete with create-a-fighter facilities and open world elements plus an online hub complete with old arcade games you can play and compete against others on. Out of character in a very good way! Let’s take a more detailed look.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Swordsmith Village Arc Review

Ufotable are back for another chunk of Demon Slayer adaptation, but I have to say that this time round I wasn’t as invested. Don’t get me wrong, the animation is still often jaw-dropping but the plot felt so samey to what’s come before that I honestly found myself less and less interested as it went along. How less interested? Let’s take a look!

Mortal Kombat (2021) Review

A lot of people were really high on this movie so I was expecting another rare positive review in this marathon of almost entirely poor films but sadly I was mistaken, the great opening scene released online was a misdirection as pretty much everything AFTER the opening is … not very good. The movie is lucky Annihilation exists, otherwise this would look extremely poor indeed. Oh well, let’s take a closer look and see if it can at least score as well as the most recent game released before this did!

Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate (PS4) Review

The next “game to live action movie marathon” at least has an accompanying game this time! Yes, the reboot Mortal Kombat movie is under the microscope and due to that it made the most sense to look at the most recent (as of this review) MK game, given a lot of the visual identity and extremely gory fatalities seen in the film are based off of the most recent efforts. I enjoyed my time with MK11, but I’m glad I waited for it to be cheap (and with all the DLC) as it’s never been my favourite fighting game franchise, and some decisions made in its design are, um, questionable, to say the least. Let’s take a look!

Doctor Who: Comrade-in-Arms – A Mother’s Love & Berserker Review

The early War Doctor adventures continue with another trio of stories and this time the middle story, Berserker, is fantastic. Being the middle story I couldn’t separate it into its own review but it really does deserve more spotlight, not that “A Mother’s Love” is bad either. So let’s take a look at both stories and act surprised by a rare case of returning Big Finish continuity!

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (Switch) Review

Ah yes, another one of those “does the internet really need another review praising this game?” review. Still, I’ve played it a lot, want to talk about that experience and also have a review to link to when this game inevitably ends up on my Top 10 Games list for this year. So, let’s look at The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, shall we?

Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny HD Overall Review

It’s time once again to do an overall look at a Gundam show for the sake of consistency and now it’s SEED Destiny’s turn, a rare sequel to an alternate universe series. While some will tell you the series is the worst Gundam show ever or something along those lines (they clearly haven’t watched Victory Gundam all the way the through like I did a few years ago…) and while the show isn’t without its problems, especially with its central protagonist, it’s far from bad, just not particularly stand out and feels like it’s on a holding pattern. Interested? Don’t want to read my four previous episode batch reviews? Well, read on!

Doctor Who: Pioneers – Northern Lights & The Beautiful Game Review

The second and third stories in the “Pioneers” set are, um, something alright. Not quite sure what happened here but there seemed to be a bet between the two authors as to who can write the duller pseudo-historical as they both cover historical periods / characters but while both are clearly written by people who are genuinely interested in the subjects both are really… not very engaging. Oh well, let’s take a look…

The Walking Dead – Vol. 13 & 14: “Too Far Gone” and “No Way Out” Review

Another double bill of Walking Dead comic volumes and once again it’s mostly setting the scene of Alexandria being a new safe haven with no more outside groups to deal with (oh how wrong they turn out to be…) but that’s not to say it doesn’t have its moments, especially involving the, well, walking dead. Let’s take a look!
