Having loved Persona 5, mostly for the story and characters, I was all-over a Warriors spin-off. Imagine my surprise then when this is far less a Warriors spin-off and more a full blown sequel with more action-based RPG elements rather than turn-based and a lack of some of the slice of life aspects being pretty much the only differences. Now they are big differences, obviously, but it’s still far closer to Persona 5 than it is Dynasty Warriors. So, let’s take a look, shall we?

Power Play is an odd story, and would’ve been odd had it been made during the Sixth Doctor’s “Lost” Season 22 as it heavily features a returning companion from the Second Doctor era in Victoria Waterfield, something never really done on TV (not unless the companion is with their version of the Doctor for a multi-Doctor story, anyway). Sadly instead of the mid-80s this audio drama version was recorded in the early 2010s, meaning Deborah Watling wasn’t quite up to the task of anything other than the role of “slightly eccentric old woman”… Still, does it work? Is it a good listen? Let’s find out!

Spinning off from the main line of UDON Street Fighter comics, we take a look at both a prequel in Chun-Li, and a side-story in the case of Sakura (specifically taking place roughly around the end of the Street Fighter Classic run, which is why I’ve put it here) Along with different time periods they’re also completely different story types, with one telling a basic but enjoyable cop story and the other being pure comedy. How well does either work? Let’s find out!

You’d think due to where the story was going at the end of Episode 25 that this chunk would be set in space, but instead it’s surprisingly almost entirely set on Earth still. Not necessarily a bad thing of course, but I did feel at times that the story was treading water, especially in the case of the storyline involving Queen Dianna and her doppelganger. Anyway, let’s take a look!

Although it was only a few days ago when I reviewed The Macros, this Sixth Doctor Lost Story was released several years after that, so it does feel weird going straight to it for this marathon! Anyway, Guardians of Prophecy is a sequel to The Keeper of Traken by its original writer Johnny Byrne, set on the last remaining planet of the Traken Union and features Melkurs, so if you liked that story you’ll love this, but what if you didn’t like Keepers of Traken? Well… let’s find out!

“Phase Two” of the MCU kicks off in the same way the previous one did: with an Iron Man film, though one that’s now part of a much bigger whole. Iron Man 3 is a controversial film, mostly in the way its villain, The Mandarin, is treated and can get a very marmite response of loving it or hating it. What about the rest of the film? I quite like it myself, so why do we just look at the whole thing so I can stop skirting around spoilers, eh?

The original run of Sixth Doctor Lost Stories comes to a close, and while we now have four more Lost Stories from this era after it, it’s still a shame to see this original series go out on such a crushingly dull end. The Macros isn’t a bad story, but it’s not a very exciting one either, managing to fall into that deadly area known as “forgettable”. Want to read more? Ending my look at the Winter anime stuff, Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai continues to move forward without many people talking about it, which makes sense! It’s very … plain. There are some good fight scenes but in general it’s your basic good vs. evil JRPG-style story, which again makes sense given it was based on one of the most popular JRPGs of all time. Honestly if I hadn’t already covered what I thought was the first half (but turns out this adaptation is just barrelling forward with no end in sight) I’d probably have dropped it, but since I started let’s strap in and follow this through to the end! … Whenever that will be!
