This feels a couple of years too late, but as Demon Slayer was put up on Netflix I felt like giving it a rewatch and finally putting a review of it up here on my blog, after it fell to the “too busy” wayside in 2019. Obviously to say this series has seen an increase in popularity since it aired would be a massive understatement, but how does the first half of what is now the first series hold up when you cut past all the hype? Let’s take a look!

Doctor Who: Point of Entry Review
I remember when this came out it split opinion, some saying it was great, others saying it was too long winded and boring. I fell more towards the latter back then, so going into this second listen ten odd years later I was hoping to have my old opinion reversed and that maybe I just wasn’t in a mood for a slow burning historical-set adventure when I first listened to it. So which side did I fall on this time?! Let’s find out as we jump back into proposed Season 23 storylines territory with Point of Entry.
Continue readingThe Incredible Hulk Review
The Incredible Hulk often feels like the “forgotten” MCU movie, given that its rarely released alongside the others or on Disney + due to Universal holding the distribution rights, and that the titular character is played by someone else compared to the rest of the MCU films. That being said it’s still officially apart of the timeline, with several characters appearing or soon to be appearing in other MCU projects, so… let’s take a look!
Continue readingDoctor Who: Paradise 5 Review
Paradise 5 is the odd one out of the original Lost Stories run, as it was originally the third segment of the “Trial of a Time Lord” season, rather than having been planned for the series that was eventually replaced by it. That means it’s in four parts rather than two long ones, and it also means quite a bit had to be rewritten! The original had Mel as a companion (in her first story no less!) and loads of Trial scenes in amongst it, so this Paradise 5 isn’t as much a Lost Story brought back as much as one that’s been adapted. Still, after all that waffling, is it any good?
Continue reading24: Day 1 – 12:00am to 1:00pm Review
I’ve been wanting to finally re-watch 24 for many years now but when I put my old DVDs in a few years ago the picture, particularly around the trademark digital clock, was terrible and so I decided to wait for the “inevitable Blu-Ray release”… that never came. Then when I finally gave in it vanished off UK streaming sites altogether! Thankfully it’s now available in its up-rez, recreated clock graphics glory on Disney +’s new STAR category here in the UK, so I thought I’d finally have a good watch through from the beginning. Handily each Season is normally split in two halves with a greater threat looming over both, so it made decision on how to cover the series easier too. So, without any further ado, let’s take a look at the first chunk of episodes, shall we?
Continue readingMarvel Anime: Wolverine Review
As I teased last week when I took a look at the X-Men anime, Wolverine’s solo anime outing quite different, in that is far less competent. This was actually made first so it’s not hard to see the changes made to Wolverine in the X-Men anime were presumably done due to how badly the character is handled in this series! Does this 12-episode show have any redeeming factors? Let’s find out!
Continue readingDoctor Who: The Hollows of Time Review
The Hollows of Time was written by TV story fan favourite Christopher H Bidmead, but sadly much like his other Audio effort “Renaissance of the Daleks” this leaves a lot to be desired. Full of long exposition and very few thrills… ever, Hollows of Time lives up to the hollow part if nothing else. Throw in the unfortunate fact that Big Finish at the time couldn’t get rights to The Master, leaving “Professor Stream” as figure of mystery that clearly is supposed to be Ainley’s Master in disguise but is never revealed as such, and it’s a pretty poor way to spend two hours…
Continue readingIron Man Review
It’s time to have a look at the film that started it all: Iron Man. It’s funny to think back to when this film was announced and I just sort of shrugged, thinking “I enjoyed the cartoon back in the day, and the suits might look cool in live action, if they manage to pull it off.” I didn’t even watch it until it appeared on DVD… Now, in 2021, it’s the movie that kicked off an entire, unique “cinematic universe”, before that catchphrase was a thing. Anyway, how does Iron Man stand up today? Let’s take a look!
Continue readingDoctor Who: Leviathan Review
During the first series of Lost Stories I remember there being two unexpected hits, this and “Point of Entry”, and while the latter often splits opinion, Leviathan is often pointed out as the major hit of the run. Why? Well, it blends medieval folklore with a fun sci-fi plot, and does it very well. Want more specifics? Well, let’s take a closer look then!
Continue readingToeJam and Earl (Mega Drive) Review
What’s this? An older game review that ISN’T a scrolling beat ‘em up?! I know! Feels like forever, though funnily enough me and my friend played this childhood classic at the same time we played the older Streets of Rage games (they were all on the same digital collection, so why not?) so this review and its screenshots have been sitting on my PC’s hard drive for the better part of a year… Oh well! Let’s take a look at the other MegaDrive game that along with Sonic 2 and Streets of Rage II always comes to my mind when someone mentions the console…
