Stranger Things, the surprise hit of last year, is back for a second go around, and manages to buck the trend of disappointing sequels by delivering a great Season 2. It may not have the “wow, this came out of nowhere!” factor of the original (obviously!) but it still retains great characters, storytelling and fun nods to the time period its set in. Let’s take a closer look!
Blake’s 7 Full Cast audio reaches Series 4, and this time the series isn’t consisting of a single boxset, instead it’s spread over three, four-story boxes! Once again we’re set in the third TV series (due to Blake being off limits due to death and the rights to TV Series 4 being complicated, this is likely to continue…) and we see the beginning of a civil war, with the crew of the Liberator in the middle of it! How do these four stories fare? Well…
10 years after they were released on blu-ray in the US, and over 20 years since they were theatrically released, we here in the UK are finally getting the original 13 DBZ movies (and presumably the two TV Specials as well), and of course being Anime UK News’s resident Dragon Ball guy, I get to review them! Continuing on catching up with the Doctor Who Year 2 Titan comics, the next volume of Eleventh Doctor somehow manages to be even more full of continuity references and characters than the previous comic collection… The Master, River Song, the Time War… Shada even plays a major role! Let’s see if they can pull all this together and still tell a good story, shall we?
The Persona 3 adaptation comes to a close (rather quickly, but hey-ho, that’s what you get for reviewing them two at a time I guess!) as new friends and enemies appear, sometimes both at once! The first box (or Series, sorry…) of The Time War comes to a close with “The Conscript” and “One Life”, two very different stories, but both equally great. I had my doubts due to the up and down nature of the War Doctor boxsets, but these four stories have been a triumph, both in terms of the storylines and in actually using the Time aspect of the war so well. So let’s take a closer look at Parts 3 and 4 then, shall we?

Well what do you know? A Time War story that actually has time-altering jeopardy instead of just Daleks and Time Lords shooting at each other! This is what I was hoping given this series (of series!) is set during the opening stages of the war, where Time Travel was the weapon of choice rather than on-ground combat, as it was during the War Doctor’s boxsets. So let’s look at the first half of the first set, containing “The Starship Theseus” and “Echoes of War”, shall we?

From fun family adventure to baby neck-snapping, it’s hard to find two series with the same name any more different from each other. My re-watch / review watch of the 2000s Battlestar Galactica feels completely different from my first, not only because of how TV has moved on the decade and a half since, but because of sitting through the original series shortly before watching this. So let’s get started in what will be more infrequent and condensed than the original BSG reviews due to time constraints and the general feeling that a lot has been said on this show compared to the older sci-fi shows I’ve watched / plan to watch… So… Yeah. Mini-series!
