After a short stay in Season 7 we jump all the way to the other end of Pertwee’s TV run and get a story set during Season 11 with Sarah Jane Smith and The Doctor travelling around in the TARDIS, so the complete opposite of the Earth bound UNIT stories. While Sadie Miller does a great job with her mother’s role I will say that The Gulf was sometimes a bit of a slog to get through… Let’s take a look!

Finally completing the run of MCU films on this blog (as I’ve covered all the other ones as they released already) is Doctor Strange. This was always in interesting one for me because I’ve always liked the character and had high hopes the MCU team would do him justice, and thankfully I was right. The latest Third Doctor Adventures set is very exciting, containing two stories set on either end of the original Third Doctor TV run rather than only featuring the Jo Grant years, all thanks to the daughters of Liz Shaw and Sarah Jane Smith taking up their mother’s roles. This is set during that always fun and sadly short-lived Season 7 time, where The Doctor, Liz Shaw and the Brigadier were facing long-form threats to Earth. Does it fit in? Now this blog is fully caught up with official Resident Evil releases! Village (or VILLage, written so you can see the numeral for “8” in it…) is the latest in the long running franchise and does a Resident Evil 4-level “to hell with realism in our bioweapons” and just runs with the fantasy element and hand-waves it at the end with some technobabble. It’s time to have a look at the anime version of Bleach’s Arrancar arc, a story arc that took many years to complete in the original manga so ended up shredded into chunks in the anime. This will actually be my first time watching just the Arrancar episodes in a row, intentionally skipping over as many filler episodes and arcs as I can, rather than watching just a chunk here and there like I have in the past. When Smackdown! 2 came out, all I was interested in was the impending release of No Mercy on the N64, so even though I played it once or twice around a friend’s house, it was “quick and arcade-y” and just “not as good”. While that’s still true, the following year (or two… possibly longer) I brought it cheap and had a good laugh with a friend doing the endless career mode together. Turns out having a quick and simple control style and a bit of a weird and funny career mode can do wonders to cover any flaw… for a while. Let’s take a look!

Ant-Man was an odd one, counted as a sort of “epilogue” to Phase 2 of the MCU it pretty much stands alone (with the exception of one scene) as a fun sci-fi heist movie. I had no expectations going into it, especially as it went through several rewrites and directors, so I was pleasantly surprised when it turned out to be a genuinely fun film. Here we go then, the dream has become reality and Christopher Eccleston is back as The Doctor for full cast Big Finish audio dramas. Sadly Mr. Briggs naturally grabbed the first release for himself, all three episodes, so the story does fall into some of his pitfalls but does the excitement of hearing Mr. Eccleston as The Doctor again overcome them?!
