It’s time for the only DS game on this list (plus the first DS game review on this blog!) and the only anime-based game (though I admit I was tempted to include Dragon Ball: Advance Adventure, but that’s still more of an action platformer in my eyes…) Fullmetal Alchemist: Duel Sympathy, which has to be one of the worst attempts to get a “DS” subtitle ever, is a decent scrolling beat ‘em up, but it is somewhat drowned by text boxes and mini-games… Let’s take a look!

The Day of the Comet is an odd one. It had a perfectly fine, if not a bit plain, beginning, then it sort of ended, moved on to another plot and then just… milled about a bit before ending properly. As I mentioned in my review of the first half of the series I hadn’t watched Badlands Rumble until just now for this review, having been saving it for when I rewatched the series. Was it worth waiting for?! Well… sort of? It’s your typical stand-alone anime movie devoid of consequence and existing entirely to please fans, though given how stand-alone the first half of the series is it actually fits in well enough. So here we have it: the final Sixth Doctor main range story, and while it would be more fitting if it were with Evelyn that’s no longer possible, so a new story set during the period where it was just The Doctor and Constance together will have to do! Colony of Fear is a perfectly fine “base under siege” story, though with some fun twists and some odd continuity! Let’s take a look!

Urban Reign was a surprise hit for me. I hadn’t heard of it at all until I saw it on some random website, not even a review I think it was talking about the hidden characters from Tekken being in it… anyway, it looked fun so I rented it out from Blockbuster and sure enough! It’s like a scrolling beat ‘em up, except you select missions in locations rather than move from one to the other seamlessly. I brought it a few months later and me and my friend played the hell out of it. What’s it like now? After having watched it fifteen-odd years ago, I decided to re-watch Trigun as it was conveniently streaming on Netflix, and while I was at it I finally watched the movie, “Badlands Rumble”, which I’ve had on my shelf for years waiting for, well, when I “finally get round to re-watching the series”. The first half of the TV series is very different in tone to the second half (well, apart from Episode 12, but it’s far too convenient to split a 26-episode series into two 13 episode halves…) in that it’s mostly stand-alone stories with a far heavier comedic edge to them. Is it still good though? Let’s take a look!

So two stories ago we saw the (re)introduction of Kroton The Cyberman, then the previous story we resumed following The Doctor and Izzy, so now it’s only natural that our next story sees the two come together! The Company of Thieves is more of a light-hearted affair, which given the story that’s about to come next, only makes sense! Is it good though, or does it exist purely to set up something greater? You know what I really hate about wrestling games? The wrestling ring! THANK YOU BACKSTAGE ASSAULT. Seriously though, when is a wrestling game not a wrestling game but instead a vs. fighting game with wrestlers? It might be WrestleMania: The Arcade Game and its sequel, but even those games had a ring in it… Oh well, let’s take a look at Backstage Assault, both the first game to feature only backstage environments and the last game released with the WCW logo on it.
