The Ninth Doctor is back and this time he actually has a continuing storyline he needs to tie up! Yes he’s still travelling with Callen and his talking dog Doyle, looking for a place the two can settle, and would you believe he ends up in a place that’s repeating a mistake from his distant past? What are odds?! Let’s take a look!

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania Review
MCU’s fifth Phase kicks off with a film high on fun CG backdrops but low on actual fun. It cements Kang the Conqueror and his variants as a big threat, which given what’s come out about Jonathan Majors in the months since releases sucks because he is so good in it… Basically, it’s a mixed bag but certainly is more of a big flashy MCU movie than an Ant-Man movie, which is a shame given Paul Rudd’s comedic timing. Let’s take a deeper look, anyway…
Continue readingMobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny HD (Episodes 38 – 50) Review
We reach the end of SEED Destiny and with it the major complaint people, in my opinion rightfully, level at the show and that’s Shinn’s complete removal from the role of lead protagonist (to the point where the fourth opening debuting in this batch opens with a shot of Kira and Athrun and it takes a few scenes before he appears alongside other side characters…) This is also the only chunk of episodes where the fact I’m reviewing the HD version of the show has any effect as the original recap episode 41 is removed entirely and a new Episode 50 is in its place using footage from the “Final Plus” version of the compilation films. Does it make a major difference? Nah, not really, but less recap filler is always good in my book!
Continue readingStar Wars – Jedi: Survivor (PS5) Review
As my review of Jedi: Fallen Order will tell you I loved that game, not just the actual gameplay but the story especially, so when Jedi: Survivor was announced I was excited and now it finally arrived I’m happy to say it lived up to expectations, though oddly flipped in that this time round I enjoyed the story but loved the gameplay. So while everyone (including me!) is playing the new Zelda game, allow me to throw up my review of the game I was frantically trying to finish before that game’s release!
Continue readingDoctor Who: Once and Future – Past Lives Review
Here we go then, Big Finish’s contribution to the 60th Anniversary celebrations is a series of audios where the Eighth Doctor (seemingly) “degenerates” into his past selves and has to go searching for a way to stop the phenomena while wearing his old faces. It’s an interesting idea though it does put my ordering of the stories completely out of whack. Do I count this as a Fourth Doctor story because the Doctor is played by and apparently looks like Tom Baker? Do I put all the stories in the Eighth Doctor page? What about the fact that we know Christopher Eccleston and David Tennant are also in the series? I have no idea, that’s why I’ve made this thumbnail template using the 60th Anniversary logo… Well, either way: let’s have a look at Past Lives and hope future entries aren’t this over-packed and muddled!
Continue readingMonster Hunter Review
If I had done this short continuation of the “Game to Live Action Movie Marathon” last year when I planned I would’ve skipped over this one due to having no strong connection to the game series and not wanting to pay money for another Paul W.S. Anderson “look how bad ass my wife is” movie, but as non-luck would have it the movie popped up on Netflix so I thought “well, no excuse now!” … *sigh* I really wish I had an excuse though. Admittedly the sadness that one of my favourite game franchises was being constantly crapped on is no longer here, leaving me with just a poor film, which I guess is better? Though I know enough about Monster Hunter to know he did indeed “do it again”. Well, enough intro writing: let’s take a deeper look!
Continue readingStar Wars: The High Republic – Cataclysm Review
Phase 2 of the High Republic comes to what can only be described as an “epic” conclusion with Cataclysm, a book that against all odds has become one of my favourites in the series. I bemoaned that Phase 2 decided to go backwards into the past instead of continuing the Phase 1 storylines and characters, and while even at its end I don’t really see how it was necessary, given how much I enjoyed this book and the characters introduced across Phase 2 I’m happy it happened. Let’s take a closer look!
Continue readingMobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny HD (Episodes 24 – 37) Review
The next chunk of SEED Destiny pulls the trigger on several bubbling plot-threads, most notably the Shinn-Stella / Kamile-Four homage as well as the Neo Reonoke reveal (that… yeah, I’ll get to that…) and puts a greater share of the spotlight on Rey as well. Let’s take a look!
Continue readingDoctor Who: Conflicts of Interest – The Edge of the War Review
The second story in Conflicts of Interest isn’t as frequently downbeat as its predecessor but given its set just before World War II it isn’t the light relief you might be looking for either. It’s also oddly structured in that each part has a very different feel to it, which given Part 1 goes for the “main cast are acting like normal humans living normal lives” plot point, one I never really care for, that at least came as a relief… Let’s take a look!
Continue readingDoctor Who: Conflicts of Interest – Friendly Fire Review
Conflicts of Interest was a strange boxset, a very serious tone was present throughout but none more serious than this first story: Friendly Fire. Tackling the subject of racism and prejudice with zero hand-holding should be applauded and in that sense it is a really well written story but I have to admit I don’t normally watch/listen/read Doctor Who stories to feel downbeat afterwards, so I can’t say I liked the story, even if it was undeniably a good story. Confused? Well, let’s take a deeper look…
