Doctor Who: The Web of Fear Review

The Web of Fear was just released on Blu-Ray with a (badly) animated Episode 3, so it’s time to take a look! Web of Fear holds a special place in my heart because pre-2013 it was one of the few stories I really enjoyed despite being almost entirely photo-slide recon and then in 2013 it was discovered whole! (though sadly Episode 3, the episode that features the debut appearance of future Brigadier Allister Lethbridge-Stewart, was nicked before they were picked up…) Watching Web of Fear with just one episode of Recon was great, but what’s it like now, with an … experimental animated Episode 3? How does it hold up in general? Let’s take a look!

Doctor Who: Respond to All Calls – Girl Deconstructed & Fright Motif Review

The War Master is back and on fine form for those who wish to hear Derek Jacobi be a completely evil git. Frankly, who doesn’t wish that? However it does have to be said that the first two episodes in this box do have mild pacing issues, so it’s not quite on the level of some of the earlier War Masters sets, especially if you don’t like political scheming. We’ve made it to the end of the Eighth Doctor DWM Comic run, and indeed the end of this Lost Stories/Eighth Doctor double marathon itself. I always find The Flood most interesting because at one point it was to feature the Eighth Doctor’s regeneration, although plans were eventually dropped (and boy, would Big Finish’s catalogue ever look different it that wasn’t the case!) Anyway, after many big moments and dramatic finales, how does “The Flood” hold up as not just another finale, but THE finale? The answer is very simple: It not only holds up, it may be the best of the bunch…

Sins of the Fathers exists for one reason and one reason only: have Destrii become a companion, and in that sense the story accomplishes exactly what it needed to. The story around it isn’t greatly interesting, but it’s far from bad and has a pleasing little twist with its main antagonists. Doctor Who: Dragonfire Review

Season 24 dropped on Blu-ray last week so it’s time to review a random story from it. It would’ve been easy to pick Paradise Towers (*shudder*) or Delta and the Bannermen because they’re so obviously… erm, what they are in tone, but I decided instead to look at Dragonfire, which I actually enjoy where as many people don’t. Do I still enjoy it? Did I really pick Dragonfire because I want to put off re-watching Paradise Towers as long as I can?! Let’s find out!
