The second half of Stranded 2 is a mixed bag, but not in there being a difference between the two episodes but instead both episodes being a mix of things I loved and things I … didn’t like as much. Still, was there more good than bad? Let’s find out!
Continue readingIron Man 2 Review
Iron Man 2 follows the classic “rise, fall, redemption” arc of storytelling that’s often associated with heroes, and sets up several key characters for the future of the MCU. Sadly where it falls is its main villain and finale, but how much does that impact the film overall? Let’s take a look!
Continue readingDoctor Who: Stranded 2 – Dead Time & UNIT Dating Review
The Stranded story arc resumes with… well, Stranded 2, and we kick off with the revelation that the TARDIS has healed to the point of time travel, but is still very much rooted to the spot. It’s an interesting twist and one that thankfully doesn’t get in the way of the new “family” of companions The Doctor has found himself with. So let’s take a look at the first half of the set, shall we?
Continue readingStreet Fighter Classic – Volume 5 and Street Fighter IV Comic Review
It’s time to finish off the “Classic” range of collected comic graphic novels from UDON and throw in their one-off SFIV comic for good measure (as it takes place at the same time as SFC Vol. 5) After a fun build up to the comic’s version of Street Fighter II, does the pay-off live up to it? … The short answer is no, sadly…
Continue readingDemon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Episodes 14 – 26 Review
The second half of Demon Slayer is far more traditional in that its one story arc, and then some “characters get stronger through training before the next story” episodes. It also has Episode 19, which may go down as one of the best animated and most satisfying moments in recent anime memory, and the next story in question has become the highest grossing anime movie ever, so… Yeah. Let’s take a look!
Continue readingDoctor Who: Colony in Space Review
A new Doctor Who Blu-Ray set has dropped and that means it’s time for a random review from it! Colony in Space was the story that I hadn’t seen in the longest, but was it because it’s crap? No, not really! It has a bad reputation among fandom for being boring, but I don’t know if it’s just my love for the Third Doctor era, but I really enjoy it. It may be missing the UNIT team but it does at least have some great Doctor / Master scenes! Let’s take a look…
Continue readingAssassin’s Creed: Valhalla (PS4) Review
Valhalla is the latest in the Assassin’s Creed series and the third in the revived, new engine sub-series. I was really looking forward to it as being a Brit who has looked into his own past I was actually far more familiar with the time period and (obviously) setting of this game’s Viking Invasion era than any other AC game, but sadly the story is stretched far too thin for the game’s own good, and the combat soon became far too easy. Still, there were plenty of highlights too, so… let’s take a deeper look! (and yes, that says PS4, I still haven’t gotten my hands on a PS5…)
Continue readingWandaVision Review
The much anticipated MCU show focusing on the bizarre sitcom antics of Wanda and Vision finally aired over the last two months, and it didn’t disappoint. While slow to start the mystery of just what the hell was going on built up perfectly, whipping myself and many others into a frenzy of online discussion and theories in the days after each episode aired. Did the series stick the landing? Let’s find out!
Continue readingDemon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Episodes 1 – 13 Review
This feels a couple of years too late, but as Demon Slayer was put up on Netflix I felt like giving it a rewatch and finally putting a review of it up here on my blog, after it fell to the “too busy” wayside in 2019. Obviously to say this series has seen an increase in popularity since it aired would be a massive understatement, but how does the first half of what is now the first series hold up when you cut past all the hype? Let’s take a look!
Continue readingDoctor Who: Point of Entry Review
I remember when this came out it split opinion, some saying it was great, others saying it was too long winded and boring. I fell more towards the latter back then, so going into this second listen ten odd years later I was hoping to have my old opinion reversed and that maybe I just wasn’t in a mood for a slow burning historical-set adventure when I first listened to it. So which side did I fall on this time?! Let’s find out as we jump back into proposed Season 23 storylines territory with Point of Entry.
