Mobile Suit Gundam Extreme VS. Maxiboost ON (PS4) Review

This is the third Extreme VS. game I’ve played (fourth if you include the sadly limited PS4 reboot attempt from a couple of years ago) but the first that I brought without importing from Asia due to it getting an official English release (sadly digital only, but hey-ho) It’s actually a direct port of the Arcade game, a new game (“Gundam Extreme VS. 2”) having made this one old hat in the actual Arcades themselves. So what’s the home port like? Is there much in it for a single player? Could they have created a more Japanese sounding title?! Let’s find out!

Streets of Rage 4 (PS4) Review

After over two decades, it finally happened: Streets of Rage 4 was announced, and I was so excited, especially as it was actually 2D and not some awful 2.5D cheap bollocks like a lot of revivals of classic games tend to be. Still, I lowered my expectations and intentionally didn’t read up about it so as to make the first playthough as fun as possible and sure enough: I was blown away. The art style, the super-smooth animations, the hard-hitting combos and funny references to the original trilogy all combine to create a genuinely amazing time for me personally. Tekken 7 (PS4) Review

Tekken 7

So I didn’t know what to review alongside Tekken 2: Kazuya’s Revenge, but given that film turned out to be very… VERY loosely connected to the game series, I guess it didn’t matter! Anyway, this was on sale for a crazy price (probably because the three DLC seasons would cost more than the game did on release… ) so I thought “why not?” I normally buy Tekken games cheap a year or two after release anyway, so here we are! Tekken 7 is a lot of fun, especially the “Treasure Battle” mode, which I got lost in for days. Want to know more? Read on!

Final Fantasy VII Remake

It’s funny how I’ve only been running this blog for five years, and for a good chunk of those years I wasn’t even covering games, and yet here we are once again covering a PS4 remake of a PS1 game I’ve already covered on the site! Hitman (PS4) Review

Hitman 2016

I remember playing about with some of the earlier Hitman games, specifically a demo that either came with another game or came on the front of a magazine. They were fun, but I couldn’t be bothered to get into them. Earlier this year (or late last year…) the 2016 soft reboot of the Hitman franchise became free for PS+ users such as myself, and as I knew the first Hitman film was coming up in this marathon I played through this game a short while ago so I can actually have a game to compare, even if the game itself was released long after the film in question. So is it good? Does the episodic open world idea work when you play the whole game as one entity? Let’s find out!

Super Robot Wars X

Well… it happened again, as I knew it would. After completing Super Robot Wars V around this time last year, I said that I’d already ordered X and despite feeling burnt out I knew I’d be playing it sooner rather than later, and here we are! X had a very different feel to it due to focusing more on magic and fantasy than the more real robot-y feel of V, but it also included some fun new franchises like Gurren Lagann and Code Geass. So in between Outer Worlds and Resident Evil 3 Remake I played through Warriors Orochi 4 Ultimate. Now, often Warriors games are pretty crazy, but given the premise of this game can be summed up as “Odin faces off with Zeus as a group of Three Kingdoms era Chinese warriors and some Samurai from the Japanese Sengoku period get caught in the middle”, this might take the cake. Resident Evil 3: Remake (PS4) Review

RE3 Remake

This all happened rather quickly (I still have one more PS4 game that I played before this to review, I guess that’ll be next week…), but that’s RE3 for you! Much like last year’s Resident Evil 2 Remake, the RE3 remake here is a stunning looking and easier to play recreation of the original game (once again already reviewed on this blog), but unlike the 2nd REmake this has some flaws, and doesn’t faithfully recreate the original 1-to-1. Is it still worth a play? Let’s find out!

What happens when Fallout has a child with Borderlands? Super Mario Bros. 3! Ha… ha… no, wait… that’s not right. The Outer Worlds! That’s the one! Seriously, The Outer Worlds is just the Bethesda Fallout engine in all but name, with the style and colour pallet more in-line with Borderlands. That being said, those two franchises are great, so this game’s great as well, right?
