Doctor Who: The Way of All Flesh Review

The Way of All Flesh is the first story after “Ophidius / Beautiful Freak” which I reviewed a year or so back, so it’s nice to finally be “caught up” so to speak and remind myself of what happens to Izzy now she inhabits an alien body that isn’t hers. This story also does that now-classic-but-then-rare thing of The Doctor meeting a historical figure in their own time, in this case two figures in Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo, who I’ll admit I have no idea about beyond what’s said in these four issues, but that’s me and my lack of interest in art for you! So let’s get this next batch of Eighth Doctor comics going then, shall we?

Resident Evil Revelations (XBOX 360) Review

The two Revelations games are a bit of an oddity. This started off as a 3DS exclusive, then was ported to the consoles where a second one was released, but some of the handheld ideas were still carried across both entries. Given I never owned a 3DS it was this 360 port that allowed me to finally play through the game. It’s set between RE 4 and 5 but far from just being a small “gap filler”. Guardians of the Galaxy Review

I mentioned that during Phase 1 Thor was the risky property due to being so unlike the others in the slate, well without a doubt Guardians of the Galaxy was the riskiest film in Phase 2 due to not only being completely detached from anything already introduced but also for being based on a comic series that the vast majority of people had no idea existed. Despite all those things Guardians was a huge hit based purely on being a great, genuinely funny film rather than any connections to the MCU or beloved comics. Want to have a bit more detail? Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles (Wii) Review

While Umbrella Chronicles covered RE 0, 1 and 3 as well as giving us a pivotal moment in the RE timeline it’s sequel, Darkside Chronicles, covers RE 2 and Code: Veronica while showing as a bit of background between Leon and Krauser set before RE 4. So… not as interesting. Still, is it still fun to play though? That’s the main question! Let’s find out…

Doctor Who: The First Sontarans Review

We reach the end of the long stretch of the Sixth Doctor Lost Stories (since I already covered “The Ultimate Evil”) with The First Sontarans, a story originally planned for Season 22 that then ended up being scrapped (though the idea of using Sontarans was kept for the story that eventually replaced it, “The Two Doctors”) It shows us a good bit of Sontaran lore, actually features the Sontarans and the Rutans fighting each other, and generally tells a really fun story, so I have no idea why it was dropped! Oh well, let’s have a closer look!

Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles (Wii) Review

I was quite excited for this at-the-time-Wii-exclusive on-rails shooter back when it was released. Not only did it have an entirely new scenario that showed the final straw that took down Umbrella but it also had new mini-stories set during or in between the three games it covered (RE 0, 1 and 3). Street Fighter Legends: Ibuki & Super Street Fighter Review

Before we hit the next longer run of Street Fighter comics (which were released under the title “Street Fighter Unlimited”) we get Super Street Fighter, which serves a prelude to Unlimited as well as an introduction to characters and themes from SFIII (plus a bit more SFIV, given that game’s story hasn’t happened in this timeline, seemingly) I thought I’d throw in Legends: Ibuki as well because she too was a SFIII character and I normally package two “omnibus” releases together for these reviews, so… Yeah. Resident Evil: Outbreak & Outbreak File #2 (PS2) Review

While I was going to review each one separately on reflection the “Gameplay” and “Graphics and Sound” sections of the review would be near identical, and frankly so would the “Story” part, so I thought it would make more sense to just bung them in one review. Frankly “File 2” is the PS2 era equivalent of DLC for the original Outbreak, just more levels to use the same characters on. So with that being said, let’s say goodbye to Resident Evil reviews with tank controls! Hooray!

“The Final Resident Evil Week” Begins Tomorrow!

For the next seven days, in other words the run up to the UK release date of Resident Evil VILLAGE, there will be a Resident Evil review going up at 2pm. Now, this is the third time I’ve done a week themed around Resident Evil reviews, and because of that it has to be the last because after this one I won’t have enough content to review! (beyond one or two spin-offs I never played that I might get round to one day, a few books and whatever has yet to be released, obviously…)

As per usual this won’t effect the reviews that are already scheduled to go up at the usual 9:10am slot (that I ended up sticking with accidentally) and instead can be treated as a “bonus” due to my excitement at playing a new mainline entry into one of my favourite franchises. So, in terms of the final releases I have but haven’t review it looks like this…
