We now reach “uncharted territory” for me as I never played past Mega Man 2 back in the day, and while it’s weird not to have a “Thoughts Then” section on a NES game, that’s just how it is! MM3 introduces both Mega Man’s dog Rush and the ground slide, which comes in handy all the damn time… Let’s have a look!
The Wrestling Rundown reaches the end of the Acclaim 16-bit engine games: WWF RAW. Once again I had it on the Mega Drive then later re-brought it for the SNES when I inherited my brothers SNES collection after I had sold off my MD. RAW is the culmination of the three games, with some great new additions like unique movesets and tornado tag team matches being in alongside the personally played-to-death Royal Rumble mode. So let’s have a look then!
My playthrough of the Mega Man series continues into Mega Man 2, what is often considered the peak of the series. It’s certainly earned its reputation as a classic, both level design-wise and definitely soundtrack-wise! With this comes the conclusion of the Mega Man games I played as a child and couldn’t get very far in, but have now completed (that’s a wordy category…), so let’s get to it!
I played Mega Man on my brother’s NES when I was very young, so young that I sucked at it… really bad. I then played it as a teen and I was bad, but not awful. Now I brought the Mega Man Legacy Collection on my PS4 and guess what? I completed the game! Admittedly I used a single game state save before starting the Wily stages, but still! Very happy to get that monkey off my back, and now it’s time to give it a review! Why not?
The wrestling game rundown reaches its first handheld with King of the Ring for the Gameboy, and despite never really having played it that much (I’ve never been much of a handheld gamer…), I said this would be a rundown of every wrestling game I’ve played, so… Here it is!
What’s this?! Me actually putting an article on the Game Reviews blog?! Crazy, I know! Seriously, I wish I had more time for this side of my life, but hey-ho. That doesn’t mean I can’t write a Top 10 though! … and what a weird Top 10 it is, due to being unemployed for a good portion of the middle of the year, I missed out on some key games like Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Horizon: Zero Dawn, and while I hope to play both during the middle-of-the-year lull next year, it’s too late for this list… So let’s have a look at what’s left!
The Wrestling Game Rundown returns to Acclaim 16-bit games with Royal Rumble, a particular favourite of mine. It was the 1992 Royal Rumble that turned me from casual fan to diehard “must watch everything” fan, and getting to play the titular match type sitting in my bedroom was amazing… What’s it like now? Er, well, less amazing (and in fact common place now!) Let’s take a look!
The Wrestling Rundown moves forward into the 16-bit era with Super WrestleMania, the first game to use the Acclaim engine that would be used for the next three games after this. Does it get off to a strong start? Erm… no, not really.
The rundown (finally) continues as the first licensed game appears. Again, I know there was a WWF game released before this (simply titled WrestleMania) and one after it (called Steel Cage Challenge) but as I said in entry one, this is all about the games I’ve played and can therefore give a then and now review on. I may later play some of the missed NES games and just give a “Now” review, but they won’t be apart of this rundown of Wrestling games I’ve played throughout my life. So, on to WrestleMania Challenge…
Yes, jumping straight into the modern era with my first contemporary review. I thought this was going to be the first game where I have to use promotion pictures due to not having TV capture equipment, but thankfully photos taken in game and put on an SD card can be read by PCs, so hooray! Off we go…
Hogan Reviews
