Top 10 Games

What’s this?! Me actually putting an article on the Game Reviews blog?! Crazy, I know! Seriously, I wish I had more time for this side of my life, but hey-ho. That doesn’t mean I can’t write a Top 10 though! … and what a weird Top 10 it is, due to being unemployed for a good portion of the middle of the year, I missed out on some key games like Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Horizon: Zero Dawn, and while I hope to play both during the middle-of-the-year lull next year, it’s too late for this list… So let’s have a look at what’s left!

The Wrestling Game Rundown returns to Acclaim 16-bit games with Royal Rumble, a particular favourite of mine. It was the 1992 Royal Rumble that turned me from casual fan to diehard “must watch everything” fan, and getting to play the titular match type sitting in my bedroom was amazing… What’s it like now? Er, well, less amazing (and in fact common place now!) Let’s take a look!

Resident Evil 3: Nemesis (PS1) Review

Capping off the original trilogy of Resident Evil games on the PS1 (and continuing Resident Evil Week from yesterday’s look at the second CG film) we have Resident Evil 3: Nemesis. While this still uses the same engine as the previous 2 entries, they have at least finally addressed some of the issues that have been plaguing the games and delivered a nice slice of continuity by setting the game in and around the other two entries in the series. Let’s take a closer look!

Resident Evil 2 (PS1) Review

After yesterday’s look at the first CG film that starred Leon and Claire, it’s time to pop back over to the games that started it all and look at Resident Evil 2, the game that gave us the same duo in the first place. While it still suffers from a lot of the same problems that playing the first game in 2017 did, it does have some additions and little tweaks to talk about… so let’s get to it!

Slow tank controls, blurry / pixelated graphics and so-bad-it’s-funny voice acting, it’s safe to say this hasn’t aged well… especially when a superior remake exists! Oh well, let’s take a good look anyway…

Wrestle War

The Wrestling Rundown reaches an awkward game, given that while I did own it and did indeed play it back in the day, I barely remember it. I believe I got it as a surprise gift after my mum found it in a car boot sale, but it was around the same time that I was first playing WWF Royal Rumble and therefore had no interest in a one-on-one only game with made up wrestlers in it. Not that anyone would know if I’d skipped it, but I would know that I’d technically left one out, and that would annoy me, so here we are!

Dynasty Warriors: Gundam (XBOX 360) Review

To celebrate the last part of my review of the Original Gundam series going up on the main review site, I thought I’d review the first Gundam game I ever played over here on Hogan Game Reviews. Dynasty Warriors: Gundam was not only the first Gundam game I played, but it introduced me to the world of Gundam outside of Wing and Seed, the only two series I’d seen at that point.
