It’s time to cover the titular story from the latest Doctor Who Magazine collection, and what a story it is! The Twelfth Doctor going up against the original Master in 70s London! A story you can only do via a medium like comics, given the sad passing of Roger Delgado all those years ago. As if that wasn’t enough, it contains an even more significant event at the end (depending of which expanded media you like to consider “canon”). So… let’s take a look!
All things must come to an end, and while I still have “The Plan” to review, this is the end of the Battlestar Galactica series reviews (unless I get round to the prequel spin-offs one day, I guess), as the final season reaches its, sadly still disappointing, end. Before the finale comes a set of really solid episodes, and some properly great scenes. So, let’s have a look at this final batch of 10 (well, episode 20 is double length and called “Daybreak Parts 2 and 3”, but it still aired as a single episode, so I count it as just episode 20, your mileage may vary)
Sadly after a really strong run of stories for this TARDIS team, we finally hit a story that I just didn’t care for. It wasn’t awful, but it was certainly dull, and did little to nothing with the companions… A shame, but you can’t win them all! Let’s take a closer look…
Diamonds Are Forever is one of my least favourite Bond films, it has to be said. It has a lot of the silly humour that would later define the Roger Moore era of the franchise, but given it has (an admittedly older, tubbier and un-arsed) Sean Connery it just doesn’t seem to work. It also has a really unsatisfactory ending and two of the most annoying “henchmen” ever… So yeah, this isn’t going to be a pretty review!
Continuing my look through the Doctor Who Magazine “Doorway to Hell” graphic novel we get the next two stories, Bloodsport and Be Forgot, before we get to the “main event”, so to speak. Bloodsport is a perfectly fine little tale with a rather bluntly delivered message, and Be Forgot is a rather harrowingly realistic portrayal of a man suffering from mental health issues… which is nice to see portrayed now and again, and so well too. Let’s take a look at them!
Despite over-exposure to the religious themes that had up to this point been well handled, the first half of the fourth and final Season of Battlestar Galactica is a great ride, full of fun twists and dramatic battles. It’s a little bittersweet the second time round knowing how some of these interesting plots don’t really get resolved, but hey-ho, it’s still great telly!

The second half of Season 3 suffers from a pacing issue. Episodes 11 and 12 are good enough, and there some great scenes in the two-part finale, but a lot of the episodes are pointless “filler”, which is normal for most of these long-running sci-fi shows, but something about Battlestar Galactica’s over-arching plot style of storytelling makes these episodes a chore to watch, impatiently tapping your feet, waiting for the next bit of the Cylon-Earth plot. So, with that being said, let’s take a look!
After getting it as a Christmas present, I’m finally actually reading the latest Doctor Who Magazine collected comic release, “Doorway to Hell”, starting with these two stories! The Pestilent Heart is a good little story, and sets up a new and fun status quo going into at least the next few stories. Moving In? … Erm. Yeah. Not so good. Still, let’s take a look!
A sequel to Blade Runner was always a good example of a sequel that doesn’t need to happen, or that straight up shouldn’t happen. Well, it happened, and it was… good! It doesn’t quite match up to the original in a lot of ways, being more a good sci-fi story than a neo-noir story that’ll make you think, but it’s a damn fine near-three hours of storytelling. Let’s take a closer look at Blade Runner 2049!
