My review of the first UK Blu-Ray release of ERASED (containing episodes 1 – 6) is now up on Anime UK News and can be viewed by clicking HERE . It lived up to the hype it received last year, so far anyway!

Fargo’s third season doesn’t quite reach the near-perfect heights of the first two seasons, but it still delivers fun and interestingly flawed characters, some great scenes and a generally interesting plotline. Not much else to say, opening-paragraph-wise, so let’s just take a closer look, shall we?

The next classic bit of sci-fi I’m tackling (because putting distance between me and Galactica 1980 is always a good thing…) takes us back to my home shores with Sapphire and Steel. I’ve heard good things about the show, though mostly about other stories than this first one… which is good because this first story is a mixed bag, and may not have motivated me to continue with the show otherwise (if I weren’t set on covering the whole show for the blog, obviously…) Let’s take a look at “Assignment 1” shall we?

Game of Thrones returns for it’s penultimate season, with only seven episodes (though by all accounts the last two will be near-or-actually feature length) and so far, so good! The main thing is seeing all these individual storylines that have played out far away from each other the past six seasons start to come together. Characters that have never met before meet for the first time, and old allies re-find each other. It’s very rewarding viewing! Plus, plenty of battles and all that usual jazz. Let’s take a closer look!

Classic Doctors, New Monsters Vol.2 comes to a close with the Eighth Doctor still avoiding the Time War, but ending up in a space station full of Vashta Nerada! It’s kind of a shame that my first McGann audio is this far into his life, there are so many great audios with him that have appeared over the last decade and a bit to cover for the blog! ANYWAY, this is a good little survival horror story with some nice ties to both the Time War and the War Doctor audios. Let’s take a closer look!

My journey through the original Battlestar Galactica comes to an end (well, until I tackle the apparently awful Galactica 1980 at some point…) as I finish off the one solitary season of the show. Oddly the first four episodes (well, three really as 19 and 20 are one story) have a complete lack of Cylons, or indeed robots at all! Still on the plus side Boxey has seemingly been written out, so hooray! Let’s take a closer look at the last four stories of the original Battlestar Galactica…

Classic Doctors, New Monster Vol.2 rolls on and reaches the Sixth Doctor and his chosen “New Series” monster: The Carrionites. Now, I have to admit, I don’t remember much about them, other than they appeared in “the Shakespeare one”, so this really felt more like a bonus Sixth Doctor story, though towards the end there are at least hints as a stronger connection to the new monster’s first appearance than the others… Let’s take a look!

Classic Doctors, New Monsters Vol.2 moves forward into the Fifth Doctor era as the Racnoss make their appearance. Unlike the Tenth Doctor TV episode, this sees The Doctor end up in the heart of the Racnoss Empire itself, and tells a good one hour story in the process. Let’s have a closer look!

The long awaited release of the second volume of “Classic Doctors, New Monsters” arrives and opens with a really enjoyable near-hour of the Fourth Doctor finding out the previously-thought harmless Vashta Nerada can turn bad and watch people be stripped to their skeletons in a abandoned fun fair… It’s just as fun as it sounds! Let’s take a closer look…

My run through of the entire (official) Bond film franchise begins! Now, don’t expect these on any kind of regular schedule, it’s more of a “when I have the time and feel like it” situation, so several might be posted in one week, or there might be several weeks without a single one. The goal is to finish before the next Bond film is released, which is roughly the end of next year, so we should be safe! ANYWAY, Dr. No then! It’s always quite amazing how much of what we know as Bond staples were in from the very first movie, and of course, Connery is great from the off, but the film does have some flaws. Let’s take a close look…
