Mario Kart 7 (3DS) Review

Surprise! … to even myself really. As I’ve been playing through all the Mario Karts I’ve talked about how this was the only non-arcade Mario Kart I’ve never played due to not owning a 3DS, but guess what happened last month? I brought a New 3DS XL in CeX for just over £100 like new and brought this with it (plus Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days for later review as I get through that series, though that’s an original DS game this has a bigger screen than my old regular DS I’ve used over the years) So before we actually end this look at the Mario Kart series with 8/8 Deluxe, let’s take a look at Mario Kart 7, my first 3DS gaming experience despite the year being 2024…

The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons (Manga) Review

After three “big” adaptations the Zelda manga reaches some of the lesser-known games for the rest of the run (well, until Twilight Princess, which again I don’t own yet!) starting with Oracle of Seasons. The two Oracle games I knew nothing about until a few years ago when I watched a YouTube video about them, which was then followed by a few more articles and bits when they hit Switch Online last year. While I don’t know if I’ll ever get round to playing them myself let’s see if this Manga re-telling was at least worth my while…

Doctor Who: Broken Memories – The Queen of Clocks Review

The next story in the latest “Classic Doctors, New Monsters” box is our second of three new Sixth Doctor releases this month and in this case features the duo of The Doctor and Mel coming up against the Clockwork Droids, so much like the previous one not super-exciting on the surface but even more than the last one writer Jacqueline Rayner took the simple enemy concept and ran with it, creating a genuinely fun and interesting story. Let’s take a look!

Red Dwarf XII Review

Red Dwarf XI and XII were recorded back to back and due to this it will come as no surprise that you can pretty much copy and paste my opening paragraph from the previous review and use it here. Series XII is a mix of fun ideas but averagey episodes that while can raise a smile it never hits anywhere near the heights of past series, but never hits the Series VIII lows either. Let’s take a look…

Doctor Who: Broken Memories – Invasion of the Body Stealers Review

The latest “Classic Doctors, New Monsters” set has arrived and with it the first proper original Fourth Doctor / Sarah Jane solo story, which is nice as Sadie Miller does such a great job with her mother’s role. Sadly, I guess, the villain of this story is the Harmony Shoal, the brain-looking aliens from the rather weak “Return of Doctor Mysterio” Christmas Special. Can they be redeemed?! Well, no… they’re just your standard body-stealing parasite sci-fi cliché, it’s hard to do anything too original with them, but at least you can craft a fun, if not predictable, story though…

Dragon Ball Super (Manga) – Super Hero Arc (Chapters 88 – 103) Review

Sometimes films can be great ways to tell stories but other times you’re left wanting a bit more behind the characters and story, and in Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero’s case… I wasn’t really left with that feeling. Hey-ho, I also wasn’t going to say no to this Manga version adding a larger focus on Trunks and Goten as teenagers as a prologue, and the extra couple of chapters worth of epilogue was good fun too, but the actual adaptation in the middle was nearly entirely just that: a straight adaptation. Obviously now that Akira Toriyama has passed the manga has gone on hiatus with no idea whether Toyotarou will continue the series without his idol’s story guidance it might be the end of the series entirely, and in that sense it does end on a very pleasant note. Let’s take a look!

Mega Man 11 (PC) Review

A couple of years ago on this website I decided to use the Mega Man collections to finally play through “all ten” original Mega Man games, and although it was often hard (and in a frustrating way a lot of time rather a fun way) I did it! … just in time for Mega Man 11 to get released. It’s taken me a while to gather up the courage to do another Mega Man playthrough but a recent Humble Bundle gave me this game on Steam at a crazy price, so I thought I may as well finally be able to say “I’ve completed all core numbered Mega Man games”, at least until Mega Man 12 is revealed shortly after this goes up, probably… Let’s take a look!

Doctor Who: Sontarans vs. Rutans – Born to Die Review

The next Sontarans vs. Rutans story has a lot in common with the first one as it also uses a Doctor / companion combination we haven’t heard from in a long long time, in this case the Sixth Doctor and Charley, back when she thought the Eighth Doctor was dead and ended up travelling with an earlier incarnation. This works out well as she now has prior knowledge of Sontarans and Rutans so the whole “she can’t let on how she knows this stuff” plot works well. How is it in general though? Well, let’s take a look!

X-Men: The Animated Series – Season 5 Review

With one day to spare it’s time to end our look at the original run of X-Men: The Animated Series before its sequel series, X-Men 97, airs its first two episodes. Sadly while Season 4 ended the show on a high note this all-of-a-sudden fifth season craps the bed, especially when we reach Episode 5 and the animation and sound quality take a nosedive. Oh well, let’s take a look anyway…

One Piece – Return to Saboady Arc (Episodes 517 – 522) Review

At just six episodes long the “Return to Sabaody Arc” is pretty much just a reintroduction to the Straw Hat crew, revealing their post two-year time skip looks before moving on to the first proper story arc in the New World, which um… yeah, I’ll get to that next time. That doesn’t mean the arc doesn’t have some merits though, and certainly some future arcs could’ve learned a lesson about being more concise, but there you go. Let’s take a look!
