One Piece – Post War Arc (Episodes 493 – 516) Review

It’s finally time to do another little run of older One Piece episodes, following on from my review of the all-time classic Marineford arc a while ago (okay, a good while ago… there was a lot of Wano in that time though!) I’ve actually had this and the next review on my PC for a good while now, it was just the soul-sapping Fishman Island arc that slowed the older reviews to a halt, but I’m happy to say I’m over that hurdle so let’s look at the next three One Piece arcs (because the first two are really short). The Post War Arc is less about the direct fallout from Marineford and more about Luffy coming to terms with Ace’s death by remembering his childhood with Ace and a young boy named Sabo, followed by preparing for the next era of the series. Let’s take a look.

Live A Live (Switch) Review

It’s time to play “finally play one of those games that’s been on your backlog for ages”! Yes, Live A Live’s HD2D remake has been on my list for a while, though I only actually finally brought it at the end of last year. The game is essentially a short story collection but instead of prose its short JRPGs spread across different eras of time, from prehistory to the far future, all culminating in a final chapter involving all the protagonists joining forces. Due to this I thought it would be a fun thing to dip in and out of and I was right, though it might be too easy for its own good…

Doctor Who: Buried Threats – A Theatre of Cruelty & The Running Men Review

The next Ninth Doctor boxset has arrived and it has a linking narrative of “stories where something from the past in effecting the present”, which is an odd choice as it does make all three stories feel rather samey, even if they take place is vastly different eras. The fact that these two stories also have the Doctor get a temporary companion to help out against an other-worldly threat, a.k.a. like 95% of these Ninth Doctor audio stories, doesn’t help the overall samey feeling these sets have created for themselves… Ah well, let’s take a look at the first two stories, shall we?

Dune – Part One Review

I’ve always been interested in Dune, but attempts to get into the beefy novel in the past have failed and while I enjoyed the 80s cheese-fest adaptation it didn’t really feel like I’d experienced the all-time classic, so when this film came along and was said to be only half the book due to how accurate they aimed it to be I was excited, but also weary of potentially the second film not being made so put it in the back of my mind until Part Two was official… Then I sort of forgot about it, until now! So with Part Two about to hit cinemas, let’s take a look at the first half of the original Dune story, shall we?

The Incredible Hulk – Origin (The Incredible Hulk Issues 1-6) Review

Resuming our look at the Marvel comic universe from start to present (with many, many stories and issues missed for the sake of my sanity) it’s time to look at the debut of the Incredible Hulk, all… six issues of it. Yeah, Hulk didn’t really take off to start with and was cancelled, being moved into “Tales to Astonish” until eventually gaining popularity later. So it’s an odd thing to look at retrospectively, but to be fair to fans at the time, there isn’t much going on here… Let’s take a look!

Psycho-Pass Providence Review

I’m reviewing Psycho-Pass all out of order on this website, but to be fair they’re also released quite a bit out of order as well as “Providence” takes place after the Sinners of the System OVAs but before Psycho-Pass 3, finally filling in the last few gaps in the story so maybe we might be able to move forward should a Psycho-Pass 4 arrive? Maybe? Well, anyway, Providence itself is a fun ride throughout its runtime, so let’s take a deeper look!

Doctor Who: Revolution in Space Review

The latest Third Doctor audio story sees The Doctor and Sarah stuck in an awkward political situation between Earth and a distant colony, though not quite as distant and thankfully a story a bit more involved than Colony in Space that was clearly at least a partial inspiration (even if that story still holds a place in my heart I’m not going to deny it has pacing issues!) It also involves psychic powers and an object from a long-lost highly-advanced civilization, so plenty of fun tropes to play about with! Let’s take a look.

X-Men: The Animated Series – Season 3 Episodes 12 – 19 Review

(My review of the first half of Season 3 can be viewed by clicking HERE)

The next half of Season 3 adapts the Dark Phoenix Saga, and not just the Inner Circle stuff either, it once again includes the space-based stuff with the Shi’ar and even the “Blue Area of the Moon”, which always confused me, at least until I read more of the comics. It also has a couple of other stories either side of it, so let’s take a look (and hope I can fit the next two seasons in the next month as we finally have a date for X-Men 97!)

Final Fantasy VII: Remake – Intergrade: INTERmission (PS5) Review

Now I don’t normally review DLC add-ons separately but given this was released a while after the original and exclusively on the PS5 (well, and PC) instead of the console I reviewed the original game on (that review can be found HERE) it didn’t really fit discussing it there, so here we are! INTERmission (I guess because it’s an extra mission in Intergrade? Maybe?) is set during the latter half of Remake and focuses on Yuffie, a character who didn’t get much story in the original due to being an optional party member. Given Rebirth is just a few weeks away I thought I’d better finally get round to playing through it, so let’s get to it!
