Resident Evil: Death Island Review

It’s time for another CG Resident Evil movie set within the canon game timeline that will inevitably not actually be mentioned in the games! Hooray! Seriously though, as a die hard Resi fan since day one I do love these as a guilty pleasure and boy oh boy does Death Island play to my fanboy heart: Chris, Jill, Leon, Claire and Rebecca all in one story? Actually following up on character development from Resi 5 and 6? A villain with an actual interesting backstory?! (before becoming a generic villain in the end) Yes for this fan this was a great 90 minutes, if you’re not a fan then… well, let’s take a look…

Doctor Who: James Robert McCrimmon – The Green Man & The Shroud Review

The second and third stories in the “James Robert McCrimmon” boxset of Season 6B stories offer two fun and simple hour-long (or two part) stories and moves the whole Raven plotline along a little bit too. Michael Troughton and Fraser Hines get on really well as a double act, so if nothing else the two stories are elevated due to that. Let’s take a look!

X-Men: The Animated Series – Season 1 Review

Like many people I loved the X-Men cartoon growing up in the early 90s and so like many people I’m very excited for the upcoming “X-Men 97” series, which is weirdly a fancy name for a sixth season of the original show. So I thought I’d see if I can review the five seasons leading up to the release of 97 though given we have no concrete date other than late 2023 I can’t say if I’ll make it or not, but either way I’ve enjoyed this enough that I’ll want to carry on regardless! I still remember the opening two-parter vividly, seven-or-eight-year-old me was blown away by the more serious tone the show went for (same reason I loved the Batman animated series) so let’s see if that holds up several decades later…

Dragon Ball Z: Ultimate Battle 22 (PS1) Review

Dragon Ball Z: Ultimate Battle 22 was the first Dragon Ball game I played, being released here at the start of the newly emerging but quickly expanding English speaking Dragon Ball explosion but way after the game was in any way relevant. Hell, the PS2 was already out and well established by that point! I brought it cheap thinking it would “tide me over” until the PS2 DBZ games came along (which they thankfully did quite quickly!) but I barely played it because it was so… SO bad. Even my newly minted DBZ hype couldn’t cover the slow, clunky gameplay. Guess what? It’s not any better now! Let’s get this out of the way, shall we?

Dragon Ball: Mystical Adventure Review

The third Dragon Ball movie is an odd one as it doesn’t feature any new characters at all but instead takes a good chunk of them from the Red Ribbon Army and 22nd Tenkaichi Tournament arcs and mushes them together, then throws in a new location for a bit of set dressing, plus Chiaotzu is some sort of Emperor now for some reason. The weird thing is that I find it really works, this is far and away my favourite of the four original Dragon Ball films, but then again I love the RRA and 22nd TB arcs, so maybe it’s not that big a shock. Well, either way, let’s take a look!

Doctor Who: James Robert McCrimmon – Jamie Review

Ignoring the terrible cover art and the stupid sounding name of “James Robert McCrimmon – Jamie” this opening two-part story for this year’s Second Doctor “Season 6B” story sets up the new status quo of The Doctor and Jamie doing missions for the Time Lord known as Raven, and of course there are few duos who work together as well. So let’s look at this latest “older Jamie having issues with his locked memories” story!

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 Review

Finally found two and a half hours to sit in front of the TV and catch up with the latest MCU film offering as we round out the Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy with “Vol. 3”. While it’s almost TV-episode-like structure of flashing back to one character’s backstory at various points made it feel odd for a big budget movie, I did enjoy my time with the film, it has a good emotional heart at its story’s core and does end this side of the MCU well. Let’s take a look!

The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask (Manga) Review

I’ll put up my hand and admit that I’ve never given Majora’s Mask a proper go, I didn’t like the timed aspect when I read about it at the time of its release and since then despite hearing how good it is I’ve yet to make time to play through it. So reading the Majora’s Mask manga has been interesting, though admittedly over the many years I do know all the major beats of the story so it wasn’t exactly reading it fresh it was still a different experience to the Ocarina of Time story I reviewed earlier. There’s also a fun original story about the creation of Majora’s Mask that was a good little read added on. So, let’s take a look!

Doctor Who: Once and Future – A Genius for War Review

The next Once and Future story, “A Genius for War”, is sadly the most generic of them all so far, though at least it’s a good example of a pretty standard Time War story only with the Seventh Doctor in it, but that’s about the only thing that’s different here. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good Davros story as much as the next guy, but it’s safe to say that this one doesn’t feel like any kind of anniversary special at all and I’m beginning to long for the days of overly-crammed multi-Doctor releases… Still, let’s take a look, shall we?

A Look at the Total Extreme Wrestling Series (PC)

As I mentioned a few Wrestling Game Rundowns ago when I looked at EWR, I didn’t want to exclude its sequel series TEW when looking at my wrestling game history but I also didn’t want, at current count, eight reviews all being extremely similar to each other either. So I’ve compromised and will instead look at TEW 2004, 2005, 2007, 2008, 2010, 2013, 2016 and 2020 all at once right now as a “Special” edition of the Rundown. It obviously won’t be a deep dive into each game, but I will touch on improvements and memories / current thoughts of each iteration. So… let’s get started!
