Doctor Who: The House that Hoxx Built Review

We kick off the latest (and it’s been a while!) “Classic Doctors, New Monsters” set with what is really a “Classic Doctor, New Setting” story, as the “monster” in this story is actually a relatively nice person, just his race happened to have debuted in what is still dubbed the New Series (even though the story his race first appeared in is now 17 years old!). Anyway, it’s a new Third Doctor and Sarah Jane story, so… hooray! Let’s take a look.

Dragon Ball Super (Manga) – Granolah The Survivor Arc (Chapters 68 – 87) Review

The Dragon Ball Super manga has continued its monthly printing for the past few years with the “Granolah The Survivor” arc, a story arc that started off so well but quickly spiralled downwards until it ended with one of the very worst finales I think I’ve ever seen, read or listened to. Want to know more? Trust me, you don’t.

Mario Kart 64 (N64) Review

While I’m off by a week or two it’s still time to look at the next Mario Kart game alongside a “Booster Pass” release, this time the second ever MK game (that just makes me think of Mortal Kombat… oh well!) that being Mario Kart 64. At the time the 3D graphics were a great addition to the game and made for far more varied maps to race on, but in 2022 its safe to say it looks a little worse for wear, as a lot of N64 games do. How does it play though? Let’s take a look…

Doctor Who: Beyond War Games – Wrath of the Ice Warriors Review

Now the new status quo has been created for this “Season 6B” Doctor run we plunge head-first into… an admittedly fun run-around with the Ice Warriors and the Brigadier on Earth. Well, it was a unique concept while it lasted I guess! On its own its not a bad story for the record, but it does seem a little too “back to basics” for only the second story in the run. Oh well, let’s take a look…

Earth Defence Force 5 (PS4) Review

Me and my friend have been playing EDF games since … well, we played two on the XBOX 360 anyway, and so it was a nice treat when he turned up with Earth Defence Force 5 in his bag over the summer. With 110 missions and us only managing to get together for a few hours a week it took a while but as per usual it was an absolute blast. It may not be much to look at or listen to but it’s hard to find a more fun example of “couch co-op”. Let’s take a look!

Doctor Who: The War Master – Self-Defence Review

The War Master returns and this time he encounters David Tennant’s Doctor in a really top-class final episode. What about the three episodes leading up to it? As usual a mixed bag, but overall I enjoyed the set. I mean, Mr. Jacobi could read me the phone book and I’d be entertained, as the old phrase goes… Let’s take a look!

Super Dragon Ball Heroes – Universe Creation Arc (Episodes 20 – 32) Review

Do you remember Super Dragon Ball Heroes, the web-only anime series created solely to sell cards to Japanese arcade goers? Well, I didn’t, at least until I was spell-checking something on this blog and one of my old reviews of the series popped up as a recommended page. Well, since my next big anime review series is taking some time I thought I’d watch the next “story” arc and throw up a review to keep things going for a bit. It’s pretty poor, but then given it’s a free advert I can’t complain too much… Can I?!

Doctor Who: Revelation of the Daleks Review

Season 22 has been released on Blu-ray so of course it’s time to review a random serial from the set! I decided to go with Revelation of the Daleks as while it’s not the one I haven’t rewatched in the longest time like I normally do with these things I have an idea that hopefully time will allow next year involving multi-Doctor stories, so… Yeah. Revelation has some unique ideas, some good bodyshock horror and the usual Season 22 unexpected violence aspect. So in other words: it’s quite fun! Let’s take a look…
