The Arrancar Arc motors on, which is funny as in terms of as-it-aired this was the story arc finally resuming after a long and uneventful filler arc. Instead the only difference felt between this and the previous batch of episodes I covered in the switch to 16:9 full-screen rather than 4:3, which was old hat even at the time. This batch has a lot of memorable moments and fights in it, but doesn’t actually move the story along that much… Let’s take a look!

Doctor Who: Bad Blood Review
Bad Blood starts us off on the last story arc of the Eighth Doctor DWM comics, a sort of loose trilogy surrounding the return of Destrii. Bad Blood itself is also a good old fashioned “pseudo historical”, being set during the … *ahem* “incidents” between General Custer and local population in 1875. With that all said, what’s it actually like?
Continue reading24: Day 3 – 1:00pm to 1:00am Review
24’s third season has quite the few changes from the previous one: new regular CTU characters, an entirely new plot taking place three years later (for the resolution to the Season 2 story see: 24 – The Game) and eventually it’s the first season to begin to trim down 24’s large cast. Before we get to the latter though we have our first core plot taking place neatly across 12 hours and while I could do without a story about a deadly virus potentially spreading across a populace I won’t hold that against it given it aired nearly two decades ago and all… Let’s take a look then!
Continue readingDoctor Who: The Curious Case of Spring-Heeled Jack & The Land of Happy Endings Review
The DWM Eighth Doctor comics continue to feature the titular Time Lord travelling alone (and continue to play hell with my thumbnail template…) as we reach the oh-so-familiar setting of Victorian London. Alongside this … Curious Tale we also have a one-shot that harkens back to the original 60s Comics that I’ve read about but never actually read (due to them never having been reprinted). Are either story worth your time?! Let’s have a look…
Continue readingMy Hero Academia – Joint Training Arc (Episodes 89 – 100) Review
Time for my first contemporary My Hero Academia review! Not quite sure why I didn’t cover the previous year’s two stories… maybe I knew I’d be covering the Blu-Ray releases for Anime UK News (which I’m sure I will as well when this season comes around…)? … Well, anyway, “Season 5” kicked off by animating the Joint Training Arc from the Manga, which also features a fair amount of new plot for our main protagonist. Let’s take a look!
Continue readingBleach: Arrancar Arc (Episodes 161 – 167) Review
These episodes are the last before the first big break in the Arrancar Arc adaptation (not that you’ll notice as we cover the arc on this blog!) and are also the last ones in 4:3 aspect ratio. Thankfully they “go out with a bang” as they adapt the third and final fight between Ichigo and Grimmjow, and adapt it well too! … Unlike a lot of the other stuff, sadly. Let’s take a look!
Continue readingDoctor Who: Where Nobody Knows Your Name, The Nightmare Game & The Power of Thoueris! Review
It’s time to start looking at the final batch of DWM Eighth Doctor comics, starting with a trio of light-hearted stories with The Doctor travelling alone. “Where Nobody Knows Your Name” and “The Power of Thoueris!” are only single issue stories, but “The Nightmare Game” (or “Doctor Who and The Nightmare Game” to give it its full title) is three issues long, so has a bit more weight to it… but not much. Interested? Excited?! Not particularly bothered?!! Either way, let’s take a look…
Continue readingWWF Smackdown! Just Bring It! (PS2) Review
Just Bring It! is not only the first PS2 game on this never-ending marathon, but it’s also the last WWF game on it… because of the name change to WWE, obviously! Far from the last game from that company… It’s also the last game to have eight people in the ring at once for a good while, plus the first game to have proper commentary! … Man, the commentary… Me and my friend still quote it for a laugh sometimes… So with all these firsts and lasts, what’s it actually like? Let’s find out!
Continue readingDoctor Who: Earth Aid Review
We mercifully reach the end of the Seventh Doctor Lost Stories, and sadly the Lost Stories as a whole (for now anyway!) Earth Aid was actually supposed to kick of Season 27 but it was instead reversed around to end it here, which meant Raine Creevy had to be written into it, so… it was an odd decision. Then again you can say that about the whole Lost Season to be honest, I still refused to believe it would’ve been like this had the series been renewed in 1990! ANYWAY, Earth Aid… Let’s take a look!
Continue readingJupiter’s Legacy Review
I already had most of this review written when it was announced as not having been renewed for a second season, so even though I began to immediately think “what’s the point then?” I thought I’d finish it, if nothing else there isn’t a lot else to go up on the blog (beyond Doctor Who and anime) at the moment! So let’s look at the one and only season of Jupiter’s Legacy, yet another superhero show with a more mature theme, but at least avoids the “evil superman” trope that seems to be so commonplace… Let’s take a look!
