Luke Cage’s second season is a vast improvement over Season 1, or to be more precise, it’s like the great first half of Season 1, but across its whole 13 episode run. A fun new villain with a great, sympathetic backstory (as all good villains have!), an old villain who just keeps getting worse, and a great supporting cast. Let’s waste no more time and take a closer look at the season as a whole!
Luke Cage Season 2 comes to a satisfying end as all the loose ends are tied up, with get a dramatic fight, a significant character death, and big things are set up for a potential Season 3. What more do you want in a season finale?
The 12th Doctor “Year Two” run of Titan Comics comes to a mixed end with a volumes of two more stories. “Terror of the Cabinet Noir” is actually a great story, with some of the best artwork I’ve seen in one of these comic stories, where as “Invasion of the Mindmorphs” is pretty weak, and pretty much a rip off of a classic Futurama story… So, let’s take a closer look at this collected graphic novel of two halves!
Can’t say a Chinese children’s film was high on my “must watch list”, but I’m not unhappy about sitting through the film, my review of which can be found HERE. It’s a visual treat, and its heart was in the right place, even if it was little overly surreal…
My playthrough of the Mega Man series continues into Mega Man 2, what is often considered the peak of the series. It’s certainly earned its reputation as a classic, both level design-wise and definitely soundtrack-wise! With this comes the conclusion of the Mega Man games I played as a child and couldn’t get very far in, but have now completed (that’s a wordy category…), so let’s get to it!
Luke Cage Season 2 continues to get stronger as more cards are put on the table, and more little plots start coming together for a satisfying whole. Let’s hope this continues through to the finale, because it would be a shame to lose this momentum!
The first series of GITS: SAC (“Git’s sack”… unpleasant sounding!) comes to an end, in suitably talky way. Sure there is some action, including that old cliché of “secret organisation has their secret base attacked and raided”, but it ends with a philosophical discussion, the kind that original Ghost in the Shell author Masamune Shirow would have loved (or did love, he’s not dead or anything…) Anyway, let’s have a closer look! Arrow Season 3, Flash Season 3, Supergirl Season 3. What do all these seasons have in common? They’re all poor examples of the show, and denote a really big downturn in quality. Yep, Supergirl Season 3 actually makes the exact same mistake as Flash’s third season by dropping the humour and superheroics in favour of angst and family drama, except this time it doesn’t haven’t have some of the good episodes thrown in. Let’s take an overall look then…
Supergirl’s third seasons comes to a disappointing end, with a particularly bad finale. It’s a real shame because the first third really showed promise for an interesting season ahead, but sadly it kept the theme of melodrama and angst and focused less and less about the super powers and… well, superheroics, until we got to this… *sigh* Let’s take a look, then…
We reach the end of the Eleventh Doctor: Year Two Titan Comics run, and with it the end of the Time War-spanning adventure featuring the Doctor on the run from his past deeds. It’s… well, to be fair it’s a bit of a mess, and keeps layering on more and more plot before explaining it away with mostly dialogue, but Malignant Truth has its moments. Let’s have a look!
