Doctor Who: The Invasion Review

The Invasion is not only a rare eight-part story, not only features the debut of UNIT but it’s also the first story to ever receive animated missing episodes. On top of all that it has Cybermen in it, which admittedly isn’t very rare for the Second Doctor story, but there you go. That being said they only appear in half of it anyway as it does take a good while for the invading to actually happen… thankfully the human villain in the story is very entertaining! Want to know more? Read on!

The King of Fighters XV (PS4) Review

Sometimes I don’t bother reviewing new fighting games for fear of people thinking I’m some sort of expert instead of the casual player I’ve been for the past… few decades, but given King of Fighters as a franchise has appeared so frequently on this blog (and in many different forms!) I thought throwing up a review of the latest entry wouldn’t go amiss… so let’s get to it!

Doctor Who: The Mind Robber Review

*Gasp!* A Patrick Troughton story that’s entirely live action?! I forgot such a thing exists… The Mind Robber is an odd story, to put it mildly: fictional characters brought to life, funky 50s robots, Zoe doing some sort of karate, a superhero called “The Karkus”, someone else playing Jamie for two episodes, and more! Does it hold together? Is the odd episode count of five parts a good or bad thing? Let’s find out!

Doctor Who: The Ice Warriors Review

It’s always interesting to look back at the debut story of an iconic enemy, seeing which parts of their character / their race lasted and what was added as they went along. In the case of the Ice Warriors their debut story is actually a very basic Second Doctor “base under siege” story with about the only impressive thing about them being their costume design. Still, they proved popular enough to bring back later several times (including two Third Doctor TV stories coming to this blog in a month or two!) so let’s take a look at the one that started it all!

Star Wars: Legends – The Last Command Review

It’s time to complete the much loved (and now non-canon, or at least “in the Legends timeline”) Thrawn Trilogy with “The Last Command”. Now I’ve enjoyed the books so far but felt they haven’t quite lived up to the hype I’d heard of them, no doubt brought about by being the first official continuation of the films released in the early 90s. Still, how does the final third of the trilogy compare? Does it go out on a high note? Let’s find out!

One Piece – Wano Arc (Episodes 981 – 1011) Review

I’ve been waiting for a natural break in One Piece’s Wano Arc but with the storyline is in full swing now everyone has actually made it to Onigashima, it’s been more tricky. Thankfully the end of Episode 1011 (yes, Episode one thousand and eleven…) had at least a nice little cliffhanger to end on, sort of literally! So as we do two or three times a year, let’s take a look at a chunk of recently-aired One Piece!

Doctor Who: The Cold Equations Review

For this run of stories I was going to take a look at the Sarah Kingdom trilogy (also by Simon Guerrier) but then I remembered I’d started the Oliver Harper trilogy in the Audio/Comic debut marathon, so it made sense to finish that off instead… so here we are! The Cold Equations is the middle of the three stories (obviously) and focuses on more on character development for both Steven and Oliver, with the latter’s “big secret” being revealed…

Castlevania: Rondo of Blood (PC Engine CD) / Vampire’s Kiss (SNES) Review

It’s time to admit something: I was going to review Rondo of Blood alongside it’s sequel Symphony of the Night last year given they’re packaged together but despite slowly but surely making my way through it I never did in the end because I lost the screenshots I took when I cleared the Symphony of the Night folder. Well, now with the SNES port of Rondo (known as Vampire’s Kiss in the UK, Dracula X in the US) on the latest Castlevania collection I thought “Perfect, I’d hate to leave it unplayed and now I have an excuse!” … Jesus, I was not prepared for the increase in difficulty found on the SNES version. So I’ll admit given I’d already completed a version of the game I spammed save states like some sort of bitch, whatever that means. So while most of the later game screenshots come from a “cheaty run” I can promise you I have played at least the original legitimately…

With that overly long opening out of the way: Let’s take a look at it/them!
