We finally come back to my playthrough of the core Mega Man games and reach the infamous Mega Man 8. The series reaches the PS1 and gets an “upgrade” with FMV, voice “acting” and smoother animations, but generally the game seems far cheaper than its predecessors and it featured a stage so monumentally frustrating that I took a break from trying to complete it for about a month before returning… Let’s take a closer look…
It’s been a long time since we got a new story featuring the Sixth Doctor and Peri (especially the “as seen on TV” versions) so if nothing else this story felt both fresh, in a way, and nostalgic. The central premise of punishing someone for crimes he can no longer remember is a genuinely interesting idea that was only partially explored, sadly. So let’s have a look at the story overall, shall we?
To celebrate 20 years of making Doctor Who audios, Big Finish released a special, roughly six-hour story titled “The Legacy of Time”, and now I’ve finally found the time to finish it, I can say it was a fun collection of stories, but was definitely just that. There wasn’t much of an over-arching plot, which is fine, it’s just different to what I was expecting. Let’s take a closer look!
Have you been wondering why I haven’t been posting game reviews, specifically modern game reviews, recently? Well, I thought I’d finally give the Super Robot Wars series a proper go and imported the English language Asia version of the first PS4 game, V (as in the letter, not the roman numeral for five…) The little “that would be fun” idea ended up absorbing nearly three months of my gaming time… Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed every second of it, and have already made plans to import the next in the series when the gaming world goes quiet again, but yeah… this was a marathon rather than a sprint, that’s for sure! The second half of the Further Adventures of Lucie Miller sees a bit more stability with an average first part and a fun finale seeing the return of a familiar enemy (much like a lot of “finales” from the Eighth / Lucie era!) and may well have set a new record for longest blog title! The Clockwise War promised a lot. It was the last Twelfth Doctor story in DWM, it featured the return of classic DWM character Fey, and the cover promised a look at a younger version of the War Doctor at long last. Somehow, The Clockwise War managed to pull all of this off to become the best DWM comic story since The Flood, and given how much I like the 8th Doctor’s DWM run, that says a lot! So let’s take a closer look…
I was warned that the Amazon Lily arc of One Piece was… not very good, to put it mildly. I assumed it would just be a silly jokey thing sandwiched in between an arc with a darker ending, and two arcs that are also far more dramatic to come, and I was right for the most part, it’s just the silly jokes turned out to be old-fashioned and really not very funny. The best compliment I can give it is that it’s mercifully short! So let’s have a look…
