Doctor Who: Sins of the Fathers Review

Sins of the Fathers exists for one reason and one reason only: have Destrii become a companion, and in that sense the story accomplishes exactly what it needed to. The story around it isn’t greatly interesting, but it’s far from bad and has a pleasing little twist with its main antagonists. So let’s get the penultimate story in the DWM Eighth Doctor run underway!

Fire Pro Wrestling (GBA) Review

Here we go, my first step into the world of Fire Pro, a step that led to one of the most addictive games I can ever remember playing in Fire Pro Returns. GBA’s Fire Pro to get back on topic was a really fun game and it didn’t take long for me to get the hang of the timing-based controls, plus it’s always fun to rename characters! Let’s take a look then…

Doctor Who: Dragonfire Review

Season 24 dropped on Blu-ray last week so it’s time to review a random story from it. It would’ve been easy to pick Paradise Towers (*shudder*) or Delta and the Bannermen because they’re so obviously… erm, what they are in tone, but I decided instead to look at Dragonfire, which I actually enjoy where as many people don’t. Do I still enjoy it? Did I really pick Dragonfire because I want to put off re-watching Paradise Towers as long as I can?! Let’s find out! (well, let’s find out the former, the latter is left to your imagination!)

Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathaway Review

Well I didn’t expect to be able to review this already! Thanks to Netflix somehow obtaining the rights to stream the movie just weeks after it left Japanese theatres the latest addition to the animated Universal Century timeline is here in Gundam: Hathaway, the first of three movies adapting the three-books-long novel “Hathaway’s Flash” by original Gundam creator Yoshiyuki Tomino. I’ve been looking forward to this for countless years, since whenever I saw the Gundam Penelope on some random website and thought it looked “cool”. Let’s take a look!

Bleach: Arrancar Arc (Episodes 206 – 212) Review

Very tempted to drop the Arrancar Arc title altogether for this mini-arc, given its entirely set 100 or so years before the current story, but it is both in the Manga and Anime an important part of the overall Arrancar Arc story, showing us how the Visoreds became Visoreds and their connection to Aizen and current events, plus how Urahara, Yoruichi and Tessai became banished to Earth for good measure. Let’s take a look then!

Bleach: Can’t Fear Your Own World – Volume 3 Anime UK News Review

As if there isn’t enough Bleach content on this blog at the moment I look at the third and final part of the epic-length light novel series for Anime UK News, the review can be found HERE. It fills in some continuity gaps and reveals some interesting backstory and lore, but it might not have been worth the two previous books to get there…

Doctor Who: Forged in Fire – Lion Hearts & The Shadow Squad Review

Forged in Fire’s final two thirds are two stand alone stories that continue the high bar set by the first story. Once again Jonathon Carley impresses with his vocal work and the latter of the two stories, “The Shadow Squad”, properly plays about with time in twisted ways that make the Time War a bit more … Time-y. Let’s take a look!

One Piece – Wano Arc (Episodes 957 – 980) Review

The Wano Arc once again reaches another ideal breaking off point so I thought I’d review another batch. Admittedly the majority of these episodes are an extended flashback to the life of Kozuki Oden, the man who the Akazaya Nine have been banging on about for years now so the plot hasn’t moved as far forward as you’d might think… Let’s take a look!

Doctor Who: Forged in Fire – Light the Flame Review

The brand new sub-set of War Doctor stories titled “The War Doctor Begins” has arrived, and I couldn’t be happier with the results. Jonathon Carley does a stellar job filling John Hurt’s shoes, not only replicating the incarnation’s voice but also his vocal mannerisms all while still actually acting. “Light the Flame” is technically the War Doctor’s debut / post regeneration story, a key milestone indeed, but does it live up to those lofty heights? Let’s find out!

Street Fighter Unlimited – Volumes 1 and 2 Review

Street Fighter Unlimited is actually a loose adaptation of Street Fighter III, or I guess the UDON comic universe’s equivalent. The main antagonist is Gill and his Secret Society and a fair bit of focus is given to some of the SFII cast as well as yet more focus on Ryu trying to contain the Dark Hado / Satsui no Hado (whichever you prefer) power and face Akuma. Does this blend work? Let’s take a look!
