Another year gone, and time for another trio of Top 10s! It’s only December 30th as I upload these, but the reason for that will become clear tomorrow! So without further ado, here are my top 10 TV series (or seasons, if you like) of 2019, as always baring in mind there are plenty I missed out on (like the Mandalorian… Thanks for not launching Disney+ here yet, Disney! *grumble grumble*) so these lists are, fittingly given its my blog, just what I’ve actually seen…
The last Main Range audio of the year / decade, Blood on Santa’s Claw is an “and Other Stories” release that is actually more one single story where the location changes a bit in between. Sometimes funny, sometimes sad, but often entertaining, Blood on Santa’s Claw is a good end to the range in 2019, if not exactly the most original story you’ll listen to this year… Let’s take a look!
Here we finally are: The Marineford Arc. When I started getting into One Piece proper I heard about this then-publishing story arc, a showdown with the most teased-as-powerful characters finally unleashing a fraction of their power in a big war with Luffy’s brother Ace’s life in the centre of it, and thought it sounded great. I obviously heard of the ending long ago, which takes some of the edge off of it, but I still enjoyed my long-awaited watch through of the story arc. So let’s take an overall look at it, shall we?
This one has been a long time coming! I watched this film a month or two back (whenever it was released on that good old fashioned physical media) but beyond a few notes I took to make sure I mention in a review, I haven’t found time to actually review it… until now! Hey, hey: listen to this, right – “Jedi: Fallen Order is the Dark Souls of Star Wars games”. Real original, right? Well, the thing is, it really is the Dark Souls of Star Wars games. Many of the mechanics of the Souls games are present here, and while it’s not as hard as Souls (which given it’s a Star Wars game, is probably for the best) it really did have to be said. Still, I really liked the game and loved the story it told, so let’s get to it!
Daughter of the Gods was pitched as a what if “5th Anniversary Story”, a classic multi-Doctor story but with, at that point, the only two Doctors. What ended up happening instead is a weird opportunity to explore the character of Katarina a bit more, a companion who barely lasted a handful of episodes, all of which are missing (and yet to be animated!) Either way I really enjoyed it, so that’s all that matters in the end! Let’s take a deeper look at it…
The first of two 2nd Doctor stories from last month that I’m finally catching up on, and I’m glad I listened to this one first because… well, it was a bit dull. It had some good concepts and performances, but it was quite a slog to get through, and it would have come across as far worse had I listened to it after the second story… But enough about that, let’s take a closer look at Home Guard, shall we?

Funny how these things happen. The Christmas Fair at the library I work at meant I was extra busy last week, and the few bits of spare time I had to write was to write two Anime UK News Reviews that wouldn’t come out until the following week! (a.k.a now!)

Back when the original run of Lost Stories came out “The Ultimate Evil” was notable by its absence, especially given it was so far along back in the day that it had a Target novel adaptation, something most of the other releases in this audio range didn’t have. So rights issues have apparently been sorted and The Ultimate Evil finally gets a dramatized adaptation and… yeah… erm, it’s not good. Very of its time, no doubt, but … Yeah. Let’s take a look!
