Do you remember Super Dragon Ball Heroes, the web-only anime series created solely to sell cards to Japanese arcade goers? Well, I didn’t, at least until I was spell-checking something on this blog and one of my old reviews of the series popped up as a recommended page. Well, since my next big anime review series is taking some time I thought I’d watch the next “story” arc and throw up a review to keep things going for a bit. It’s pretty poor, but then given it’s a free advert I can’t complain too much… Can I?!

Season 22 has been released on Blu-ray so of course it’s time to review a random serial from the set! I decided to go with Revelation of the Daleks as while it’s not the one I haven’t rewatched in the longest time like I normally do with these things I have an idea that hopefully time will allow next year involving multi-Doctor stories, so… Yeah. Revelation has some unique ideas, some good bodyshock horror and the usual Season 22 unexpected violence aspect. So in other words: it’s quite fun! Let’s take a look…
Continue readingDoctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness Review
Another MCU “Phase 4” film that, while very entertaining, was clearly a bit of a mess backstage and relied heavily on multiversal cameos to gets pops out of the audience. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness has some merit, don’t get me wrong, but without the warm central performance of Tom Holland this take on the multiverse-crossing shenanigans isn’t quite up to par, though some of the visuals were properly stunning. Let’s take a deeper look anyway because… well, that’s just what I do here…
Continue readingObi-Wan Kenobi Review
Well, it’s been teased for literally years but it finally arrived: Ewan McGregor reprising his role as Obi-Wan Kenobi in a story set in between the Prequel and Original trilogies. It didn’t stop there though! Darth Vader / Anakin (played by Hayden Christensen no less), live action Inquisitors and even child versions of Luke and Leia. Throw in some amazing scenes I can’t talk about until the Spoiler section and I was one pleased Star Wars fan!
Continue readingDragon Ball Z: Kakarot (PS4) Review
While I finally do have a plan in place to cover the many Dragon Ball games in my collection on this blog including this game would mean reviewing it a good few years from now so I’d rather review it now after I’ve just played it, especially since there is still more than enough DB games to cover for that eventual plan as it is. So yeah, I finally played DBZ Kakarot at the start of the year after the complete collection was on sale for roughly £10 digitally. The combat didn’t look inspiring and the story was just the same-old so I didn’t get it at launch, despite free-roaming the Dragon Ball world sounding very fun. Were my instincts correct? Let’s find out!
Continue readingGhost in the Shell: SAC_2045 – Season 2 Review
After being less than impressed over Season 1 of this CG addition to the Stand Alone Complex series I wasn’t in a hurry to get round to Season 2, released nearly two years later. Still, looking back at the old review one of the things I did say was that the plot did pick up towards the end and I was interested in seeing where it was going, so did it end up going anywhere interesting? Let’s find out!
Continue readingDoctor Who: Wink Review
The next, and final (for now…) release in the makeshift-titled “Out of Time” range sees the Tenth Doctor end up encountering his Sixth self, but unlike the previous two stories this was actually a great stand-alone Weeping Angels story that happens to feature two Doctors, where as the other two stories felt they were very much created just around the concept of it being a multi-Doctor story. Let’s take a look!
Continue readingStar Wars: War of the Bounty Hunters Review
War of the Bounty Hunters was the big tie-in event of 2021 Star Wars comics and crossed over into all of their non-High Republic series, namely the main Star Wars comic, Darth Vader, Doctor Aphra and Bounty Hunters, plus it had its own five issue event series to top it off. This is a general look at the whole event, and I have to say that overall while it had its moments there were a hell of a lot of issues for what really was just one scene. Was it a good scene at least? Let’s find out!
Continue readingDoctor Who: Battlegrounds – Rewind Review
After feeling a bit flat on the previous two stories I’m happy to report that “Rewind” was a great story, taking the rather trad at this point Groundhog Day scenario of reliving the same day over and over and giving it a really good spin. Let’s take a look!
Continue readingDoctor Who: Battlegrounds – The Keeper of Light & Temmosus Review
The War Doctor Begins side-range continues with another trio of stories, the first two of which don’t feel very Time War-y, where as the third is very Time War-y, so it was an easy decision how to split this box into two! This doesn’t mean the stories in this half of the set’s review are bad per say, but more that given the setting it seemed like something of a waste. Let’s take a look!
